Former WNBA star Liz Cambage has been all over the news for all the unfortunate reasons these past few days. She initially went viral when Nigerian players accused the Australian of using racial slurs. Instead of countering explosive claims, Cambage revealed her intentions of switching allegiances and playing for Nigeria! Apart from her controversies, Cambage is also well known for exposing the WNBA’s problems.

One of the biggest issues which crippled the league for quite some time now is pay. Women athletes are paid ridiculously low amounts, forcing them to resort to other income methods. During a recent podcast appearance, the former Los Angeles Sparks star bashed the league.

During a recent podcast with Taylor Rooks X of Bleacher Report, the Australian clarified her shocking exit. It was the low salaries being offered by the teams.

“They do not pay me enough, they do not pay me enough to warm up this achilles every other day and hoop and get the sh*t beaten out of me on court”, said Cambage.

Like most other WNBA stars, Cambage resorted to other means in order to earn a decent living. Unlike Brittney Griner and many other stars who play the offseason in foreign countries, Cambage opened her OnlyFans account.

Users need to pay a subscription fee in order to view Cambage’s exclusive content. According to Marca, this earned her upwards of $1.5 million a year!

Despite being a well-known name in women’s basketball, the former Sparks center made around $170,000 in salary. This is shockingly low considering the average salary for their male counterparts is around $8 million yearly.

Currently, 41-year-old legend Diana Taurasi is the highest-paid player along with two other stars who earn $234,936 according to Sportrac. On the other hand, the highest-paid player in the NBA is Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry who earns $51 million yearly.
