For Draymond, the 2023-24 season was an unfortunate year of his career. It may be unfortunate for only Draymond Green, but his actions were rightly taken care of from the league’s end. Dray received the most technicals of his career this season, 17, and was also suspended for the same amount of games. Back in December, Green hit Jusuf Nurkic in the head for which he was banned for 12 games. It wasn’t his first time as he had to sit out a crucial game last year in the playoffs against the Kings when he stepped on Sabonis’ chest.

Given his history, the league made him attend mandatory counseling. Out of all, no one would expect Green to attend such meetings. However, in the end, Dray did a pretty good controlling himself. The therapist on the other hand might’ve saved some of his teammates and assistant coaches from getting yelled at. Green hardly agrees with any foul call and that’s one of the main reasons why the referees don’t like him.

“I’m like, ‘Hey, like, I keep getting suspended. I really got to get a grip on this.’. And he’s like all right, great… He’s like, ‘What’s your plan?’. And I’m like, ‘Well I’m just not going to talk to referees at all’… I’m like ‘Well, maybe I can find someone on our sideline, then explode on if I need to kind of, just get my words out.’. It’s like  ‘Yeah the camera’s going to turn to you and the whole world going to think you’re losing your mind.”, said Green on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Despite finding a less problematic solution to his arguing problems, it wouldn’t have sat so well with his teammates. Regardless, in the second half of the season, Green did a great job of controlling himself on the court. However, the Warriors didn’t last long, missing the playoffs for the second time in the last four years. On the flip side, Green’s frustration did blurt out off the court.

Draymond Green is not fazed by anything on the court

We’re all familiar with Dray’s altercations with the referees, and players, and even arguing with teammates. The list goes on. But one of the things that checks out is his confidence in himself. No matter what the consequences might be, Green would not back down from an argument or any sort of altercation. Being the veteran he is, he does play the role of a leader on the court. He has to, especially for the betterment of the younger guys on the roster.

On the floor, Dray has shown great passion and intensity each night. While things have escalated quite a few times, the Warriors know exactly why 23 is so valuable to them. Despite the number of controversies around Dray, he has played his role judiciously on the court. The energy from Green on the defensive end is unmatched. Paired with his IQ on the offense, Green accounts for one of the best role players on any team.

The coming season will showcase a completely different Warrior team. There’s a high chance Thompson won’t be part of the team, the replacement of whom would be the younger assets. Green and Steph will have quite some time mentoring these youngsters while they try to make their way back into the title contention. Do you think the Warriors will be a better team next season?
