“That’s Really Private”: Steve Kerr Refuses to Open Up on Kind of ‘Help’ Draymond Green Is Seeking

The Golden State Warriors are doing all they can to help Draymond Green get back on track. The veteran Center is serving an “indefinite” suspension awarded by the league for hitting Jusuf Nurkić in the face during a game. It is still uncertain when Green will return to action, but it is unlikely that he will suit up for the Warriors this year.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr also supported the NBA’s decision to suspend Draymond for his betterment. However, Kerr refused to spill the beans about the kind of ‘help’ Draymond Green is seeking to improve his situation.

Steve Kerr is keeping the Draymond Green situation private

When Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was asked about the kind of help Draymond Green was seeking, he refused to open up about the situation. “I can’t really share that; that’s really private. What I can tell you is that Draymond has our full support, that Draymond is himself very much committed to creating the change that he wants to see.” Kerr said in an interview. The Warriors head coach addressed Draymond’s suspension before the last game. He claimed that Draymond’s suspension was the right time for the 4-time Champion to step away and change his life.

This is Draymond’s second suspension this season, and it has come in a span of one month. He served a 5-game suspension last month for putting 3-time DPOY Rudy Gobert in a headlock during a game. Apart from missing games due to suspension, Green has been ejected three times this season.

The Center ranks second in total career ejections during the regular season with 18. It is high time that the Warriors and the league did something about the controversial nature of Draymond Green.

Is suspending a player the right solution?

Draymond Green is the second superstar penalized with a huge suspension this year. Months before the Draymond situation, Adam Silver and the NBA suspended Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant for 25 games for detrimental conduct to the league. Ja got suspended for displaying a firearm on social media during an Instagram live. That was Ja’s second offense, as he had already served an 8-game suspension in March for a similar act.

The repeated offense by superstars like Ja Morant and Draymond Green makes the NBA world wonder if suspending a player is the right solution to these problems. If the players learn nothing from the multi-game suspension and loss of pay, the league might have to think of a new way to get the players back on track.
