Draymond Green‘s standout game vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday. That’s it. That’s everything the Dub Nation could think about. However, what came as a surprise was Dray borrowing Stephen Curry’s ‘Night-Night’ celebration. Now the question is, was that needed? While the NBA fans have gone deep into the debate of the dos and don’ts of the icon celebration, the 34-year-old Dubs center shared a unique story.

In the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show, co-host Baron Davis and guest Norman Powell wanted to understand what was going through the 4x champ’s mind. This intriguing question led to the story of how the Phoenix Suns’ main man Kevin Durant was displeased with Green’s on-court gesture.

Draymond Green shared: “It’s crazy because I really started doing the ‘Night-Night’ because I thought they called the foul. After all, Jaden McDaniels pushed the s**t out of me. So I thought they called an and one, but I couldn’t hear it. So I started doing the ‘Night-Night’ and then I realized we needed to run back.”

Here’s the twist in the plot:  “It’s crazy. KD texted me last night. The first text I saw was KD saying, ‘Yo, you a fool for running down the court, full speed doing Night-Night.’ I didn’t know. I didn’t know.” Kevin Durant expressed displeasure with his ex-teammate’s celebration. Well, maybe KD was upset because Draymond for once, let his guard down. Knowing too well, what players like Anthony Edwards can do with such open opportunities it’s only natural for the veteran to express his annoyance.

Well, it looks like the adrenaline made it difficult for Draymond to read his surroundings, that there was more action left. Meanwhile, this ‘stolen’ celebration has divided the fans. One side believes DrayMagic has the liberty to use his teammate’s style, while others feel he unfairly used it. But why? Moreover, Green’s sudden celebration could’ve been the reaction to the things that unfolded on the court.

Draymond Green’s ‘joyful’ taunt to the Minnesota Timberwolves felt more like a personal attack towards their French center Rudy Gobert. Well, surely, the ‘lovely’ history that both players share doesn’t require any reiteration. However, just when we thought that maybe the players wouldn’t drag the dirt from last season into the ongoing one- things… happened.

The Warriors star mentioned that Assistant Coach Seth Cooper told him to have Gobert on him. But, there was some kind of hesitation in HC Steve Kerr’s mind. Nonetheless, the plan was executed, and “I start going in now. What I’m initially thinking is he dropping. I’m a hand this ball back to Steph. But once he started dropping, his Steph started coming up,” Draymond narrated.

Green added: “I just took the rub, rub screen. Steph set a great screen. And I turned that mug over. And then I hit him with the ‘Night-Night.'” Some fans believe it was Draymond Green’s unadulterated ‘hatred’ for Rudy Gobert that led him to execute the ‘cold-blooded’ plan, which ultimately worked. But there had been instances where T-Wolves players like the French center and Jaden McDaniels were going all-out on Dray. Of course, stop him before he steps up!
