The Warriors-Wolves game was a close one. That was until Stephen Curry decided to take over in the final minutes! With 13 clutch points and a dagger look-away three, he led his team to victory. And there was one play in particular that caught Steve Kerr’s attention as he highlighted it as ‘the blueprint’ for the Bay’s younger stars. However, it really looked like Brandin Podziemski was not too focused, dare I say interested, on listening to Kerr’s valuable lesson, hinting at brewing tensions in the Warriors’ camp.
“I love the possession where Steph got off the ball and we went swing-swing.” Kerr said, referring to the play at the 2:15 mark in the final quarter when the ball went from Curry to Trayce to Wiggins to Schroder and back to the Splash Bro for a dagger three.
“That’s the game right there. And that’s what we’re trying to impart to our young players, you know: We have Steph Curry on our team you know, so pass the ball!” Steve Kerr remarked, as a message to the young core.

Obviously, this is a strategy the Warriors have used for over a decade and it has led them to four championships. Moreover, Steve Kerr highlighted the problem behind not following it, “It’s important for our young players to understand. We don’t need contested 17-footers with twelve on the shot clock. Right. That’s a bad shot.”
Unfortunately, Brandin Podziemski did not seem to be on the same page with Steve Kerr last night, as he gave a blunt response to the head coach’s message, saying, “Man, I don’t really think. I just play. When I’m out there, if I’m open, I shoot it. If not, I make a play.”
Although Podz acknowledged that he would pass the ball to Steph whenever he saw him open, (giving his sentiment a sort of ‘obvious’ tone), the young gun did not resonate with his boss’s words, “Yeah, I don’t really look too deep into those messages.” Well, this difference in opinion/ lack of drive could be concerning for the Golden State Warriors, as it shows that the team members are not in sync with their strategy. Moreover, Podz’s comments are not coming at a good time because of his ongoing trade buzz.
Steve Kerr warns the Warriors about being a “lousy NBA team” while Brandin Podziemski’s trade rumors escalate
Steve Kerr firmly believes that his team’s youngsters need to be better at finding Steph for more open shots. That proved crucial last night as The Baby-Faced Assassin dropped 31 points and was the only player on either team to score above twenty points. And Coach Kerr indirectly warned the players that passing the ball to Steph is a choice, “We can either do that and win games or we can shoot a whole bunch of 15-foot contested shots in the middle of the shot clock and be a lousy NBA team.”

However, Brandin Podziemski’s reluctance could be because he, too, had a decent game. Amid his ongoing sophomore slump, the young gun had an efficient night, scoring 12 points off the bench with two deep-range shots. Maybe, that’s why his confidence was high during the postgame interview, feeling the need to put his foot down. Moreover, recent reports suggest that the Warriors are now open to seeking trade options for Brandin among other members of the team’s young core.
They have reportedly missed out on acquiring multiple big-name stars in the past, including Lauri Markkanen and Cam Johnson, because of their reluctance to break up the young core.

But their recent struggles have changed their stance, in hopes of adding another star. So, Brandin Podziemski’s disagreement with Steve Kerr, or whatever you wanna term that, could be a sign of frustration because of his name entering the trade block.
