Bronny James' $10M wealth at his age—Is it deserved or just a product of his dad's fame?

Bronny James may not be as abysmal as he has shown himself to be in the last few days! The only problem is, his route to success may be linked to another sport. As part of the ongoing Summer League, the young and aspiring basketball players were called in to participate in the ‘Call of Duty Modern Warfare III tournament’ held at Encore Las Vegas. The streak of bad luck that seemed to follow the 19-year-old seems to have ended here, thanks to the video game competition.

Taking to his official X account today, ‘The Sporting Tribune’ founder Arash Markazi highlighted Bronny’s feat for the world to see. In the popular two-minute drill contest segment of Modern Warfare III, he accumulated over 84 kills to his name, just one more than new Charlotte Hornets power forward Grant Williams. At the same time, Detroit Pistons rookie Bob Kintman ranked in the 2 place with his 77 kills, while new Toronto Raptors player DJ Carton ranked 3.

The love for video games certainly runs in the James family. While LeBron James often shares the high scores he accumulates during his NFL Madden matchups on social media, Bronny has been seen taking his Call of Duty fights to the next level. Back in May, he teamed up with Kick streamer Josh “YourRAGE” to take on other popular gamers like Felix “xQc” Matthew “Nadeshot”, Tyler “Trainwreckstv”, and Rani “StableRonaldo”. The elite rivals turned out to be nothing, as the new Lakers star won the game by 6-2. During the online stream, “xQc” proceeded to ask Bronny if he is going to get a job in the future, to which the latter replied that he plays basketball. When asked “Are you getting drafted this year?”, LeBron’s son could only come up with “I don’t know yet.” Well, now we all know, don’t we?

This feat allows Bronny to walk away with $10,000 and a custom Call of Duty championship belt. Unfortunately, the same didn’t earn him the approval of some NBA enthusiasts.

Fans react to Bronny James’ non-basketball achievement

No sooner had the news broken out about Bronny James’ feat when people commented in the comments section to share their reaction. One fan found it funny that the 19-year-old was more successful when handling a controller than he would be with a basketball.

Have an interesting take?

Unlike his Call of Duty stint, Bronny has been unsuccessful in making a mark in the NBA until now. His Summer League debut got off to a rough start, with the player accumulating 4 points along with only 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. His debut in Las Vegas saw him putting up his career-high score, which only went up to 8 points.

Another social media user highlighted that Bronny fulfilled the hope placed on him to make more and better shots. Unfortunately, COD is probably not what they had in mind.

The 8 points that Bronny made during his Vegas debut against the Houston Rockets came as a result of going 3-14 from the field, and 0-8 in terms of three-pointers. In fact, when looking at his combined score until now, Bronny has made no 3s from his total 12 attempts over three games. Furthermore, out of the 26 total shots made from the field, only 6 have successfully caused the ball to go through the hoop.

Despite the young player having only participated in a few games until now, one individual felt that he had seen enough. Therefore, when looking at Bronny’s high score, he was sure that nothing he did in his NBA career would top the same.

While the Team USA training camp prevented him from witnessing his son’s Summer League debut live, LeBron James did weigh in after the latter could only accumulate 4 points. In a statement, he proceeded to claim, “You can’t take anything stat-wise from the California Classic and Summer League and bring it once the season starts. The only thing that matters is him getting better and stacking days.” After all, the Summer League is touted as the place where new players train and better their games before heading into the main league. Therefore, Bronny doesn’t have to be the best. He just has to learn.

One commenter chose to ignore Bronny completely and instead focus on the 2 ranking Grant Williams. He highlighted his belief that the NBA player is someone who seems to keep himself busy in all ways.

Grant Williams is making the best use of his offseason time. From making an appearance at Michael Rubin’s iconic ‘White Party’ to heading off to Indonesia to act as part of the NBA Cares initiative, he is certainly not sitting in one spot.

Overall, the reactions were all united in taking a shot against Bronny James. For the player in question himself, however, it is a good day since the win allows him to walk away with a little extra addition to his $10 million wealth, while also adding a custom championship belt as a memento.
