‘Super Bowl LIX’ is just a few days away. It offers something for everyone. For football fans, it is ‘the game’ of the year, as the Kansas City Chiefs squad attempts to secure a historic first three-peat. For the hyped-up Swifties, anticipation has gone havoc over how ‘Taylor’s Boyfriend’ will perform. Meanwhile, music fans will be looking at the halftime show, as Kendrick Lamar is once again set to ignite the crowd with a memorable performance. For LeBron James, it is a double treat, as his love for football and the rapper’s music come together under the promise of a spectacular night.
The official Instagram accounts of the NFL and Apple Music recently uploaded a throwback clip from the 2022 Super Bowl. It featured the early beginnings of Kendrick Lamar’s performance as he pulled out the ‘Alright’ track, amid cheers of the crowd.
The NFL promoted the clip to create excitement as to what we can expect next. While it’s hard to say how all fans felt about the clip, we can confirm that at least one person was hyped to the next level! LeBron James highlighted this video on his Instagram stories and wrote, “HE GONE K–L THAT (poop emoji)!!!! CAN’T WAIT *Bart Scott voice”.

The ‘Not Like Us’ singer will take center stage at the Caesars Superdome, in New Orleans, during the highly anticipated Chiefs-Eagles faceoff. He will be performing only days after winning five Grammy awards, including the Song of the Year and Record of the Year.
Patrick Mahomes even admitted that he will certainly watch the rapper’s act on replay! After all, he will be too busy ensuring that his team walks away with the championship title. However, with the Lakers set to have an off-day on Sunday, LeBron James will be enjoying the show in all its glory. Maybe we will see him even break out some moves as he vibes to the song!
The Lakers legend’s love for the rapper isn’t a secret. LeBron was amongst the NBA players who attended Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Pop Out and Show’ concert in June 2024. The 22-season veteran and Westbrook were even captured vibing to ‘Not Like Us’ along with the 16,000 other attendees. Months later, during the 2024 Paris Olympics, as the track played in the arena, Stephen Curry objected by saying, “Damn with this song. It’s not the only song in America!”. LeBron replied, “I love it”.
Even King James’ wife and daughter were once captured enjoying ‘Not Like Us’. So, even if this song is all that Lamar performs at the NFL prime-time event, we can be sure that the NBA legend will still be more than delighted.

If there is one person we know who won’t be watching Kendrick Lamar’s half-time performance, it’s Drake. After all, ‘Not Like Us’ is a diss track aimed at the Canadian rapper. If rumors are true, then LeBron’s liking for the song resulted in the fallout between the hoopster and Drake’s friendship. A fallout, repercussions of which continue to affect matters even now.
Drake takes a shot at LeBron James by changing the lyrics of a 2018 song!
As Kendrick Lamar prepares for the upcoming NFL performance, Drake is currently in Australia for his ‘Anita Max Wynn Tour’. During one of the shows, the 38-year-old performed his 2018 track, “Nonstop”. One of the most notable lines from the song is “How I go from 6 to 23 like I’m LeBron?”. It was a reference to the NBA player rising to stardom. However, Drake changed the lyrics during the show by singing, “How I go from 6 to 23 but not LeBron, man?”. Yikes!

This lyric change was just another sign that things are not good between the two former best friends. Its signs had already been seen earlier. Drake had unfollowed LeBron on social media and taken alleged shots in his ‘Fighting Irish Freestyle’ song. The music artist even made headlines recently for claiming: “Me and Universal is like if Nike was funding a campaign about LeBron cheating on his wife”. Drake received criticism from many over the unproven and baseless analogy/accusations, including from Charlamagne tha God.
Amidst all this, LeBron James has been silent.

Having found a new music artist whose tracks he enjoys vibing to, why should the NBA player look to mend bonds with Drake? Keeping his thoughts away from the rapper, James sits in excitement, waiting for the Super Bowl, just like millions of other fans.
