The Phoenix Suns faced a challenging night on Wednesday as they secured a 116-100 win over the Detroit Pistons. However, the early exit of Suns guard Devin Booker after two technical fouls was more surprising. Furthermore, Suns coach Frank Vogel was also on the receiving end of a technical foul for arguing Booker’s ejection. Certainly not how the team wanted their game to be. Not just Booker, but another crucial element of the team, Bradley Beal, was also missing because of injury, leaving a void in the team’s lineup. The woes just continued with Devin Booker. As if things couldn’t go any worse, the two players got involved in a physical altercation before the game. Suns player Drew Eubanks got punched by the Pistons player, Isaiah Stewart. As per reports, the brawl took place in the Phoenix Suns’ locker room at the Footprint Center. Speaking about the situation, Drew mentioned, “Just walking in and words were said and got sucker punched and security stepped in and that was it.”

Soon, there was chatter on whether Booker’s ejection was something because of the situation with Drew and Stewart. In a Pool report, an NBA staff official was asked about the same. In response, he shared, “No, all the decisions made were based on what was going on and the merits of the game.”

About Booker’s first technical foul, he shared, “The comment that he made met our standards and warranted the technical foul, the second technical foul that led to his ejection.”

The first quarter saw Booker picking up two quick technical fouls, leading to his automatic ejection from the game. The initial technical resulted from Booker’s disagreement with officials over a foul call against him. Shortly after, he received a second technical and was ejected from the game. Booker concluded his game with 7 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist.

Speaking of the game, Kevin Durant also shared his opinion at the post-game conference. The champ described how Booker’s ejection was indeed quite surprising to him. However, he understands the decision made by the officials.

Durant said, “I guess (Booker) said something that ticked the ref off, but they were on edge before the game anyway because of the situation and they thought it might escalate. I can see it from their perspective, but I just think the techs were too quick.”
