The Phoenix Suns lost their second consecutive match against the San Antonio Spurs at home. Their tough start to the season continued with only two wins in five games to kick-start their campaign. Following the latest defeat, the Suns’ superstar Kevin Durant identified one Spurs player as the obstacle to their comeback.

Kevin shed the spotlight on one moment that crushed their chances of getting back into the game. Through this, the 2-time champion credited the rival starlet for destroying the team’s hopes of winning the match.

While talking about his match experience, Durant pointed out a three-pointer from Cedi Osman as the turning point of the game. “Cedi Osman hit a three,” he stated in the post-match conference, before admitting, “That kinda broke us a little bit”. It came as a crucial stage as the Suns had tied the match in the fourth quarter from a 14-point deficit.

They entered the last 12 minutes of the game with a scoreline of 103-89 but went on to tie it at 116-116. With slightly over four minutes left on the clock, the hosts fancied their chances of winning the game eventually. Right at that moment, a three-pointer from the 28-year-old shattered their hopes of a comeback.

“It broke everybody in the building, to be honest,” the 35-year-old mentioned while reflecting on the instance. The small forward from Spurs hit a corner three as the visitors stretched the gap on the scoreboard further. They registered their victory over the Phoenix side to go 3-2 in the opening five games of the season.

What is next for them?

With two defeats in the regular season, they are 11th in the Western Conference. Their inconsistency is a major concern for the supporters, following the recent changes. The question marks are also over the chemistry of the team.

It seems as though the Suns have not found their best starting five. With Bradley Beal, in particular, remaining unavailable, the roster is not operating at its full strength. With challenges still arising within the squad, the organization has a lot to work on during the season.
