It’s a tough season to be a Phoenix Suns fan. Right from the off-season, the Valley side has consistently made its to the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Starting from the ownership risk to go all the way, hitting the second apron ceiling to the Bradley Beal trade drama. Despite these ups and downs, the team managed to float above the playoff contention in the West. However, the latest locker room tension between HC Mike Budenholzer and Jusuf Nurkic may bring about unexpected turns.

Some of you may have even forgotten that the Suns had a player named Jusuf Nurkic. Meanwhile, it isn’t a name that can be easily forgotten given his tussle with Draymond Green last season. Anyway, the point is that Nurkic suited up for the Suns 9 games ago. Coach Mike Budenholzer abruptly replaced him with Mason Plumlee in the starting lineup without any intimation, as per the big man.

Jusuf Nurkic didn’t just accuse the coach of not communicating about his sudden decision but also made a concerning statement. Speaking to the Arizona Republic about the coach, he said, “We don’t have a relationship… For me, just be a pro and do the best I can. Work and stay ready for whatever might be, but there is no chaos or bringing that to this team. They already have plenty of it.”

On the other hand, reporters extended their mics to Mike Budenholzer to hear his response. While we have witnessed several coaches play it low in case of internal tussle, Mike was blunt with his reaction.

He said, You know, it’s never easy in this league. He hasn’t played. I’m sure he’s frustrated. I respect that.” Moreover, speaking of Nurkic’s accusation, he added, I don’t have anything to say or add to that he was obviously sick and wasn’t with us for a while.” On the other hand, will this open up new doors in the league?

What will the latest Jusuf Nurkic situation lead to?

What’s your perspective on:

Is Nurkic's absence a blessing in disguise for the Suns' recent winning streak?

Have an interesting take?

First things first, the Suns don’t seem to be bothered with the latest Jusuf Nurkic situation. In the last 9 games, the Suns have produced an impressive 7-2 record, clearly indicating that the 7-foot star’s absence helped the team come out of the slump.

Moreover, Mike Budenholzer dropped the reason behind sidelining Nurkic, saying, There has been conversations that have been had. There’s been communication. Three-four guys play the same position we are gonna go with who we think is our best chance you gotta earn your minutes, and that’s been communicated.” So, it’s very clear that the Suns coach has made up his mind to go ahead in the season without Nurkic.

On the other hand, what does this confusion leave the NBA with? Of course, a grand opening. We all know that the Lakers have been desperately looking to add a big man to the roster. Especially, Anthony Davis publicly expressed his wish to play number 4, saying, “I think we need another big… I feel like I’ve always been at my best when I’ve been a four and having a big out there.” So, are we going to witness a blockbuster trade before the deadline?
