Did Seth Curry just outshine Stephen Curry in their family rivalry? What does this mean for Steph?

Stephen Curry might go on and win the Olympic Gold in Paris, but he already lost a prized possession even before joining the USAB training camp earlier this month. The USABMNT flew off to the UAE for the 2024 Paris Olympics preparations. They’ll face Australia later today and Serbia on the 17th. This only meant that Steph had to relinquish his title at the American Century Championship, the celebrity golf event he won last year.

However, in his absence, his brother, Seth, and father, Dell, took it upon themselves to defend the Curry name at the tournament. That only meant a double whammy was on the way for Stephen Curry, who could do nothing but digest another blow. But this time it came from a family member.

Steph Curry took to social media on Sunday to post a video. The footage showed Seth Curry gleefully flaunting a Championship belt, similar to the ones used in combat sports. The yellow-colored title is bestowed every year upon the Curry family member who scores the most in the ACC golf event. In the Warriors star’s absence, Seth took the CurryBoys belt, but Steph left a warning for his brother. “@sdotcurry Taking home the CurryBoys belt for 2024. Well earned…back to its rightful hands next summer tho,” Curry wrote in the video. However, the caption had a congratulatory message in as Steph wrote, “The belt changing hands once again. Congrats.”

This was not the only title that changed hands. In Steph’s absence, former Tennis player, Mardy Fish took the ACC winner’s trophy home. In the 3-day celebrity golf tournament, 90 participants were vying for the win and $150,000 prize money at Edgewood Tahoe Resort in Nevada. The star-studded field of play also featured NBA legends Ray Allen, Vince Carter, and Charles Barkley. Incidentally, Chuck, a golf fanatic in his rights, labeled Stephen Curry a “Coward” for failing to defend his crown.

The USABMNT duty means no golfing for Stephen Curry. The 10-time All-Star is known for his prowess with the tee and he was one of the biggest, if not the biggest miss of this year’s ACC edition. But for Sir Charles, golf should be regarded above anything else, even the Olympics. “First of all, Steph Curry, he’s a coward. He’s ducking me. Can you believe he knew I was going to play my best round ever? That’s why he’s going to use some lame lame excuse like the Olympics to duck me?” Barkley told ESPN.

The nature of the make is a dead giveaway that the “round mound of rebound” meant it sarcastically with his regular dose of humor injected. This could easily be the reason for Curry has yet to respond to the analyst. Despite Barkley’s well-documented dislike for the Warriors on screen, the former MVP has held Curry in the highest of regards throughout the years. “I think when you look at tonight, Wilt Chamberlain, 100 points, Joe DiMaggio, 56 games. This record ain’t never going to be broken! Because of this guy, at least another five years at his peak. And he’s going to set a record that nobody ever will come to again. And it’s beautiful to watch,” Barkley once declared on the sets of NBA On TNT.

Now, at the age of 36, Steph still finds himself atop the NBA’s all-time 3-PTS shooting leaderboard with 3747 success from downtown. This number is further bolstered thanks to his 42.6% career 3-PTS shooting, which changed the game for a modern-day point guard. Despite that, Curry will not be playing the role of a PG in the upcoming Olympics as USAB plans to play LeBron James as a point forward. The game plan will further unfold in the upcoming exhibition games, but Curry will have to keep his desire to win back the CurryBoys belt in check, at least till next year.
