The Golden State Warriors have been one of the most successful teams in this past decade or so. The team has won four NBA championships with the same main core group of players. And a lot of that credit goes to their All-Star point guard, Stephen Curry.

However, players like Klay Thompson and Draymond Green have been equally important for that run. Unfortunately, Thompson has not been getting the same level of respect and recognition lately. This led one of the hosts on Gil’s Arena to suggest something that would run a shiver down the spine of Warriors’ fans.

As much as Stephen Curry is credited for the team’s success, Klay Thompson was an equally important part of the four championships the Warriors brought to the city. And so were Draymond Green’s efforts on the defensive end of the floor.

This offseason, Draymond Green got a contract extension from the Warriors worth $100 million. But when it came to Klay Thompson, Golden State only offered him a two-year $48 million deal that he eventually turned down.

Now in a recent discussion on Gil’s Arena, Klay Thompson’s situation with the Warriors was brought up. That is when Josiah Johnson said, “If Klay was smart, he would really stick it to the Warriors. Go sign a vet minimum with the Lakers this offseason.”

He also went on to add, “It’s not even about the money, it’s about the respect.” Since the start of his career, Thompson has been with the Golden State Warriors. He has been an integral part of the Warriors’ legacy.

Not only that, but Thompson also makes up for one of the ‘Splash Brothers Duo’. So, should Thompson consider leaving Dub Nation?

The end of the season may decide Thompson’s fate

Klay Thompson had a slow start to the season this year. Thompson’s season average has not been so low since his second year in the league with the team. However, in the past few games, fans have been able to see Thompson turn back the clock a few times.

So, one may wonder if the Warriors front office may revise their role after Thompson’s $189 million contract expires at the end of the season. There is a chance that the five-time All-Star may get more money elsewhere.
