The Golden State Warriors are going through a tough time. Their core players have struggled all season to keep it together and focus on playing winning basketball. Klay Thompson is having the worst year of his career. And Draymond Green has caused more trouble this season than ever before. The veteran Center got punished by the league with an indefinite suspension for hitting Jusuf Nurkić in the face during the last game. All of this has led some people to question the leadership of Stephen Curry.

After analysts put Curry under a microscope for being unable to handle the Draymond Green situation, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr defended his superstar by slamming all the critics.

Amid the Draymond Green saga, Steve Kerr slammed the critics for questioning Stephen Curry’s leadership in that situation. “For anyone to question Steph Curry’s leadership, it’s actually kind of sickening. I saw some of that yesterday. It was disgusting.” Kerr said, ahead of the Clippers-Warriors game. Kerr was indirectly referring to veteran analyst Stephen A. Smith, who pointed fingers at Stephen Curry’s leadership on ESPN’s First Take. Stephen A. Smith claimed that if one of LeBron James’ teammates committed such an act, the Lakers superstar would get slammed by everyone. But somehow, no one is raising eyebrows at Steph’s leadership.

It is not fair to hold Steph accountable for Draymond’s actions. Green has a history of being a more physical player, but no one batted an eye when the Warriors were winning. He has been ejected 19 times in his regular season career, only behind Rasheed Wallace’s 29 career ejections. Stephen Curry has been the only shining light in the Warriors’ abysmal season.

He has kept Golden State afloat amid all the drama surrounding Draymond and Klay. Steph is averaging 29.1 points and 4.4 assists so far. So, it is understandable that Steve Kerr was enraged about people pointing fingers at Steph’s leadership.

Steph has been the perfect representative for the Golden State Warriors franchise. He has been the face of the Warriors franchise for 15 years and led them to 4 NBA Championships. The Warriors revolutionized the game of basketball with an offense centered around Curry’s shooting ability.

Despite being a 2-time MVP, Steph even took a backseat when Kevin Durant joined the Warriors after their 2016 Finals loss. He allowed KD to be the primary scorer for Golden State to achieve the bigger goal of winning the Championship.

That sacrifice led to the Warriors winning back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018. Steph is the glue that has held the Warriors dynasty together for more than a decade. Even though the Warriors are struggling to make things work this season, Dub Nation has hope that Stephen Curry will get them out of this slump with his leadership.
