Seventeen different starting lineups, experiments with Stephen Curry’s minutes – Steve Kerr has tried everything. But their troubles don’t go away. If all that wasn’t enough, another one has been added to their list. The 2x MVP’s career has been marked by his fair share of injuries. This season, though, it’s not a major, season-ending issue, but more of a persistent knee problem. Curry’s knee has been bothering him enough to keep him sidelined for some time.

He’s openly talked about playing through the discomfort, which definitely adds to the concern. But the real gut punch came recently when Warriors head coach Steve Kerr dropped an update that left fans feeling uneasy.

Warriors fans weren’t exactly in the holiday spirit after their team struggled against LeBron James. While Kerr didn’t specify which games, he did raise concerns about Curry’s injury management.

Appearing on the WillardAndDibs podcast, Kerr delivered the blow: “Steph’s had the knee issue. A couple weeks ago when the knee issue started, we really wanted to make sure we’re staying in front of it. Part of staying in front of it is not playing in both ends of back-to-backs for now.”

Curry is reportedly still dealing with tendinitis in both of his knees, according to Kerr. On top of that, he missed a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2024-25 NBA Cup because of an ankle injury. And he won’t be suiting up against the Clippers on Friday night.

The Warriors are already 0-2 against the LA Clippers this season, and things aren’t getting any easier. With Curry out and Draymond Green possibly joining him on the sidelines, Friday night is going to be a real grind.

After their hot start, Golden State has only won 3 of their previous 14 matches. But the 4x champion still believes in his team.

Will the Warriors bring back their old form with Stephen Curry at the helm?

The Warriors’ once-promising 12-3 start has quickly turned into a .500 record. After their Christmas Day loss, they now sit at 15-14, just half a game ahead of the Spurs for the 10th spot in the loaded Western Conference.

Up next, they face a tough stretch with seven games against playoff contenders. It starts with back-to-back matchups against the Clippers on December 27 and the Suns on December 28. Plus, they won’t be having the services of Curry against Clippers.

Stephen Curry acknowledges the tough spot the Warriors are in, saying, “It is an inflection point on obviously which direction our season can go.” He’s right—after a rough 14-game stretch, finding consistency has been nearly impossible.

Yet, ‘The Chef’ remains hopeful: “You just can’t lose spirit and belief that we’re a good enough team to figure it out because this league is ruthless.”

The Warriors have dug themselves into a hole, but Curry sees a chance to climb out before the All-Star break. If they don’t regain momentum in the next few weeks, they’ll find themselves stuck chasing a playoff spot down the stretch, and, as Curry points out, “nobody wants to be there.”
