Steve Kerr becomes the prime suspect! Right when the Dub Nation almost moved on from Jordan Poole’s breakup, a shocking revelation reminded everyone of the golden boy. The 25-year-old’s departure from the Warriors after Draymond Green’s violent behavior stands as an unremovable blemish in the franchise’s recent history. While DrayMagic took all the blame for the mistake, the latest revelation put the spotlight on the Dubs’ decorated coach, Steve Kerr.

Former Dubs’ star Gilbert Arenas took to his show, No Chill Gil, and urgently blurted out the insights of the controversy. During the 2022 off-season, a video of Green violently punching Poole to the ground at the Warriors practice facility leaked on the internet. Following that the 4x Champ issued an apology, and the duo went on to play in the 2022-23 season. But the equation didn’t last for long, as Poole parted ways with the Dubs and joined the Washington Wizards.

While no one knew the backstory behind the punch, Gilbert Arenas jumped the gun to clear the air. Connecting the dots, one might think, Draymond Green punched the star as a response to Poole’s trash-talk. But, Arenas particularly stressed that the rising star didn’t engage with Green on the day of the incident. Then what might’ve possibly happened? Let’s gear up for Arenas’ version of the story.

The Gilbert Arenas perspective: Steve Kerr, the instigator

Well, we can’t entirely blame the 9x NBA Champ, but he seems to be the catalyst behind the mess that ended the Golden State Warriors dynasty. The ex-Warriors star’s perspective started at the team’s training camp in Japan. At the time, Draymond Green went after Jordan Poole, trash-talking, to bring out the best in him, as per Gil. The former player said, “Draymond’s being Draymond, going at Poole, ‘Are you going to win this year? Are you going to win a game this year? You’re a loser. You can’t carry your second team’… Poole never said a word.”

Following that, Poole-led second unit struggled to win any practice against Stephen Curry’s starting five, and Green kept chirping at the young man. This is where Steve Kerr stepped in. Arenas further added, “It got so bad that the coach had to step in. Poole never said a word. Steve Kerr stepped in and pulled Jordan Poole to the side and put the battery in his back.”

Arenas further continued, “He (Kerr) said, ‘Come on Poole, you’re letting that mock to you like this every day? Stand up for yourself. Be a man. I am giving you the ‘Okay’ to talk shit back… Don’t let him just punk you. Come on, say something back.” Following which, Poole began chirping back at Green, calling him an “expensive accessory” carried by Stephen Curry, leaving the teammates in splits.

When did Green exactly hit Poole?

After Poole’s flurry, the team dispersed after the day’s play. The next day when the team regrouped again for the practice. Green looked “different” than his usual presence, as per Arenas. And apparently Green picked up from where he left the last day, trash-talking to Poole. However, the youngster didn’t seem to entertain the vet this time.

This is where the leaked visuals come into play. Green was seen approaching Poole aggressively, and when the rising star pushed him away, Green took a violent jab at him. And boom, the video was all over the world. It was the starting point of the domino effect which ultimately ended the Warriors dynasty. After losing Poole in the following season, the team has now lost Klay Thompson. Even though it might be for a different reason, but sure did ensure the end of the Warriors trio.

Who is to blame? Going by the words of Arenas, Steve Kerr merely did what a coach was supposed to do. He supported his trusted star and encouraged him to stand up for himself. However, it ended in misery. What do you make of the Gilbert Arenas’ version of the story? Let us know in the comments.
