Draymond Green's emotional breakdown—does this show his passion or vulnerability? What's your take?

It’s been a bonding of a decade between Draymond Green and Steve Kerr. The dynasty built under Kerr in the Warriors will certainly go down as one of the best in the NBA when it’s all said and done. But just like every happy family, the Bay Area is no stranger to locker room frictions. And when there’s a Draymond Green in there, it gets tense and you better believe it.

The former DPOY can be frustrating for his teammates at times. Draymond’s impulsive behavior more often than not leaves the Warriors in a lurch with the last season seeing a fair share of it. Steve Kerr has had a front-row seat to Draymond’s antics for a decade now and even he lost it at times with the chaos created by his player.

During the latest episode of The Dan Le Batard Show, Kerr made an appearance to advocate for National Voter Registration Day. Along with all the discussions, the inevitable question popped up: “What is the angriest that you’ve been at Draymond Green?” Kerr answered, “Well there’s a lot of examples.” After the laughter subsided, the HC further revealed that the Jordan Poole incident was the moment he was angriest with Draymond. “I think for sure the Jordan Poole incident. Draymond and I are a lot alike in many ways…We’re both kinda maniacal competitors. But he crossed the line with Jordan and he knew it immediately. And it made that season incredibly difficult for everybody.”

Kerr also mentioned how he had multiple clashes with Draymond during the training or even during the games, but that only was due to their obsession with winning. The infamous punching incident happened during the training camp on Oct. 5, 2022. The duo verbally spat before things went south and Green knocked Poole’s lights out. But the incident took a toll on Draymond mentally, which was clear from the aftermath.

After the incident, Draymond left the training voluntarily, and the franchise fined him for his troubles. Poole landed in Washington in the offseason. This was the much-publicized domino effect, but the immediate aftermath was limited in the Dubs locker room.

During a recent episode of the No Chil Gil podcast, Gilbert Arenas disclosed what went down after Green punched Poole. After this hit, Draymond goes to the locker room. “And they said Iggy followed him. Iguodala is the player I think that followed him,” Arenas said. “Draymond Green in the locker room upset, crying and they said Iggy is trying to talk to him.”

The former Wizards star further said that Green was distracted due to his personal issues involving his kids. Iguodala clarified this to Kevon Looney when the former went to the locker room to confront Draymond. Since then, the 4-time NBA All-Star made a public apology for his behavior and Poole decided to let bygones be bygones. Now with another NBA season approaching, surely Steve Kerr will get some more instances to be mad at his lovable warrior, Draymond Green.
