Steve Kerr loses it! After a comprehensive win over the Grizzlies last night, the Dubs took on the Kings at home. This time with Steph Curry on the lineup. However, the team had nothing going their way, as the visitors continued to rain down buckets and expanded the lead with every passing minute. At one point, the frustration got the better of a helpless Kerr and he paid the price…
Around the third minute mark in the third quarter, trailing by 26 points, Steve Kerr bounced out of his spot and attempted to get on the floor, reacting to Kings’ Keon Ellis’ actions. When Steph Curry moved the ball for an offensive possession, Draymond Green set a screen for the superstar. Ellis, who was guarding right from when he stepped on the court, got entangled on the screen and fell. To be honest, he tried to sell it. But the refs ignored, even calling a shooting foul for the next play and offering 2 free throws to the Chef.
On the other hand, though, Steve Kerr wasn’t pleased.

The 9x NBA Champ came fuming in, screaming and arguing, saying, “That’s a flop” and asked for a flopping call. After having enough of Steve Kerr’s tantrums, the ref slapped a technical foul on the NBA veteran. Guess what? He continued to argue even then. Moreover, the video clip indicated that Kerr argued with the Kings coach Doug Christie, who definitely seemed unhappy with the hard screen.

Nevertheless, the situation was brought under control instantly. Thanks to Domantas Sabonis for separating Doug Christie and taking him far away from the fuming Dubs head coach. Moreover, Draymond Green’s screen was indeed a hard one, yet it wasn’t illegal. While it should have gone unnoticed, Steve Kerr’s meltdown offered a free throw to the Sactown side.

Coaching isn’t only about making plays and chalking out strategies. Sometimes, the coaches may have to manipulate the mood as well. At least as per Joe Mazzulla’s school of coaching. During a regular season game against the Wizards in November, Mazzulla received a tech for arguing with the refs and it immediately ignited a 12-4 run. Most importantly, it saved the team from suffering a loss against bottom-feeders. Speaking after the game, Mazzulla said, “I mean it changed the energy in the arena. Did you feel that?”
“I thought it wasn’t really about energizing the team. It was about manipulating the environment.” Well, amid the Dubs’ frustrating performance, Steve Kerr seemed to have pulled off a similar stunt, don’t you think? Even if the Dubs HC didn’t intend to uproot the mood, the players on the court didn’t take any signs, as they continued to suffer. The situation got worse as the minutes passed. At the end of the buzzer, Golden State suffered an embarrassing blowout 99-129 loss. Did you watch the game? Drop your opinions below.
