Klay Thompson‘s entry to the Warriors’ facility was a bit different from most. While the other players parked their cars, Klay had to dock his boat before entering the Oakland Convention Center. Over the past decade, that was a very familiar sight, but that obviously won’t be happening anymore. When Steph Curry discussed this scenario, the hooper even had the feeling that he was talking as if KT had passed away or something “super weird,” he had said. A similar emotion is shared by Steve Kerr, who opened up about it again.
But times are changing, and the show must go on. Believing it to the fullest, the Warriors HC is looking to bypass the exit hangover. “We’re gonna miss him like crazy,” he confessed the emotion every coach and player in the camp will experience through the season. Kerr acknowledged Klay’s contribution to the franchise and also said, “Klay will have a statue out here at some point…”
However, the head coach believes it’s high time for the Dubs to move on to a new chapter, now that the Splash Brother’s ties with them are officially over. “We have to look at his departure as a chance for some rebirth and some new ideas, and we get to forge a little different identity with our team,” Kerr stated on SiriusXM NBA Radio.

Last season, Kerr and his coaching staff had to make the crucial decision of removing Klay Thompson’s name from the starting lineup. That didn’t go well with the swingman, who expressed his frustration vocally towards the coach. But gradually the situation improved. But now, with the sharpshooter out of the picture and Andrew Wiggings having navigated through the emotional challenges of his father’s demise, the hooper is expected to take the small forward role. Despite the attempts of restructuring, the void of Klay might persist, and that won’t be surprising honestly. But it will only be fitting for Klay Thompson to get a statue outside the Chase Center.
Steve Kerr’s statue claim backed by Klay Thompson’s ex-teammate
Being together for over a decade in the Warriors, Draymond Green shares a strong emotional bond with his fellow Splash Bro, Klay Thompson. Despite their split, Green only wished the 34-year-old to flourish in his new team and spoke about cementing a legendary legacy. “My hope for Klay, when he goes to Dallas, is that he plays great. If he plays great, he’ll appreciate everything he’s done here,” Bay Area’s floor general recently stated on The Draymond Green Show.

“Right now, I feel like there’s a stain on it for him. He hasn’t said that, but I feel it in my gut.” Dray is aware that all players don’t have a fixed franchise which they can call their homes, but for Klay it’s different. The Warriors will always be his home, Green claimed.
The veteran further added, “He’s a legend here, his jersey is going up, he’s getting a statue.” But don’t let Draymond’s words fool you. Because the hooper has already declared his intentions/gameplan of running through Klay’s chest when they meet next. How will the Mavs guard respond to it? In his words, he will just contend with the free throws earned. What do you think?
