The Golden State Warriors’ unlucky streak is back again. The team started the season with a loss but was able to retrieve themselves to post five consecutive wins in the next games. Then it went on a back-and-forth with losses and wins, followed by losses to the Nuggets and the Cavaliers.

They approached Sunday’s match against the Minnesota Timberwolves, hoping for a win. However, they had to settle for a 116-110 loss. Despite Stephen Curry posting the highest points for the game, the star of the day was Anthony Edwards. With 33 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists, he guided the Timberwolves to post a comfortable seventh win of this season.

In the post-game media conference, Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr spoke at length about the current state of his team. At the same time, he also acknowledged that Minnesota was just too good defensively. He added, “They’re number one defense in the league for a reason. The’ve got a lot of length.”

Kerr also pointed out that the Timberwolves are at their best right now. He explained, “They’re playing well. They’re playing probably better than anybody in the league, you know. Having beaten Boston, Denver and coming in here and beating us. So [I] give them credit.”

When talking about the Warriors, he said that they missed many of their open shots. The coach promised to do better on Tuesday as they face Minnesota at home again.

Minnesota has lost just two games this season. Their star player has been Anthony Edwards, who has been besting his score with each game he plays. So far, he averages 27.9 points with 6.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists while shooting 50.0% from the field. This is the highest average of all his appearances in the NBA since his debut in 2020.

On Sunday’s match, alongside Edwards, birthday boy Karl-Anthony Towns also played well. He put up 21 points with a season-best 14 rebounds and 2 assists. Minnesota coach Chris Finch spoke about his team’s performance saying, We’ve got to get better through winning. I thought tonight we left a lot of meat on the bone.” He further added that there is still more growth needed for the team. “We can play a lot better and that’s not to say we expect to win easily or anything like that. It’s just that when you get outrebounded and you turn it over and you don’t make the easy offensive play, there’s a lot of room for growth right there”, explained Finch.
