As an unlikely event, the Golden State Warriors succumbed to a loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers at home after 7 years. The Dubs entered the Chase Center arena with a payback mindset for their loss against the Cavs earlier this season. However, things didn’t go in their favor, as the Cavs took home a 110-118 victory.

On top of it, a controversial call to eject Draymond Green from the game took the Dubs by surprise. During the third quarter, where the Cavs were already comfortably ahead of the Dubs by 10 points, the refs blew a whistle on Donovan Mitchell for a common foul. But, it didn’t end there as the refs further introspected the affair and gave out a controversial call.

With six minutes left in the third quarter, Donovan Mitchell voluntarily elbowed Draymond Green while he had the ball, which eventually led to an ugly spat. The refs interfered and took the affairs to official review. The official review call placed a flagrant foul on Green for previous possessions and ejected him out of the game and only called a common foul on Mitchell.

Following the call, the Chase Center arena exploded with loud gasps, and a disappointed DrayMagic screamed and walked back to the locker room.

In response to that, coach Steve Kerr fumed over the refs during the post-game press conference. He said, “He got a technical for elbowing Mitchell, a couple of plays before may be. I have never heard of this rule before. Apparently, you can retro actively call a technical on someone from two plays before.”

Kerr further described the official’s call with a controversial term. He added, “I had no idea… That was bizarre.”
