The Golden State Warriors will face the Los Angeles Clippers tonight without their veteran Center Draymond Green in the line-up. Draymond got penalized with an “indefinite” suspension by the NBA after his actions in the last game. The former Defensive Player of the Year took a wild swing at Suns Center Jusuf Nurkić, knocking him to the ground. He immediately got booted from the game after the officials awarded him with a Flagrant-2 foul.

A day after Draymond’s unprecedented suspension verdict, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr broke the silence, urging “Help” for the 4-time Champion.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr talked about Draymond Green’s suspension ahead of the Warriors-Clippers game. “I think the suspension makes sense. To me, this is about more than basketball. It’s about helping Draymond. It’s an opportunity for Draymond to step away and make a change in his approach, in his life… It is not the answer to pick a number (of games). The answer is to help Draymond.” Kerr said, urging help for Draymond. It is evident from Draymond’s actions that the 5-game suspension penalty last month did not affect him.

Kerr believes that things like this take time, and stern measure is required to help Draymond get back on track. Green has been the defensive anchor and voice of the Warriors for over a decade. He was crucial in making the Warriors one of the most dominant dynasties in NBA history.

But Draymond’s actions this season might be tarnishing his legacy.

How does Green’s suspension affect his legacy?

Players and fans alike once considered Draymond Green one of the best defenders in the NBA. He won his maiden Defensive Player of the Year trophy in 2017. When Draymond’s future with the Warriors was uncertain this summer, Head Coach Steve Kerr claimed they could not become a Championship team without him. Green eventually signed a 4-year $100 million extension and cemented his place in the roster.

But Draymond’s actions this season have escalated to a whole other level. He has missed 8 of the 23 Warriors games so far, and he was suspended for 5 of those games. Draymond is set to miss more time due to his latest suspension. It is still uncertain when he will be allowed to return to action. Draymond Green is a 4-time Champion, and the NBA will probably induct him into the Hall of Fame when his career is over. But his reputation of being a reckless player will haunt his legacy for years. Hopefully, Draymond can use his suspension to reflect on his actions and come back more focused on winning a Championship.
