The Golden State Warriors continue to be shaky. Their season took another hit, this time a loss against the Toronto Raptors. The game swung both ways, with the Bay leading by 9 points. However, even though they led in the fourth quarter, the advantage quickly withered away. And another fine Stephen Curry performance went in vain.
Playing on the road and without Draymond Green, the Bay did lack size in their lineup. In hopes of deepening their shooting prowess, Steve Kerr opted for Buddy Hield to start. Having three guards in the starting lineup didn’t bode well as they lost by three points. Furthermore, Hield still couldn’t recover from his slump.
But that’s not going to stop Steve Kerr from confiding in the veteran sharpshooter. Even at a time when Hield is going through a major slump, the seasoned coach believes he is useful for the Bay. “I trust him. I put him in the last play because I believe he’ll make the next shot. He gives us space. Even when he is not making shots, he gives us space. People respect him and guard him and he opens up the floor. So I’m gonna keep playing him. I’m gonna keep trusting him,” he told the media.

But if you ask the fans, they have had enough.
Warriors fans are done with Buddy Hield
When the season began, the Golden State Warriors flowed together. The seamless connection between Stephen Curry and Hield propelled the franchise to win 12 of their first 15 games. However, since then the story has been different for the former Kings guard. “TRADE BUDDY HIELD,” a fan wrote on X.
Over the last two games, it seemed as if Buddy Hield would emerge out of his slump. However, it was difficult to get anything going tonight. The 32-year-old contributed just 8 points to the mix. In addition, he also missed the game-tying shot, which, although improbable, further intensified the fans’ desire to see him gone.
Normally, this might not have been the reception he receives. However, with Stephen Curry’s career reaching its final stages, there are no seasons to waste. Over the past two months, Hield’s shooting has been inconsistent. Hence, one fan wrote, “Look, no disrespect. Buddy Hield is NOT LIKE THAT,”.
On the contrary, Hield has proven that when in a groove, he could be the perfect counterpart besides Stephen Curry. In the first month, he was averaging 21.2 points, shooting 50% from three. While those numbers have drastically dropped since then, Kerr’s continuing to show trust isn’t a surprise.

But one thing that fans dislike is Kerr has excessive trust in Buddy Hield. Tonight, it was clear that the former Pacers guard’s shot wasn’t favoring the team. He had only made 2 of his 9 attempts. Still, Kerr drew a play-up for Hield. This is why one fan mentioned, “This is what happens when you let Buddy Hield play almost the whole 4th quarter while leaving Dennis on the bench, Steve Kerr masterclass”.
In comparison, Schroder was having a relatively better outing than Buddy Hield. He added 12 points, albeit his shooting wasn’t lethal either. However, he scored 8 of those in the third quarter. Even with that sort of rhythm, however, Steve Kerr only played him 3 minutes in the fourth quarter.
In some fairness to Kerr, that quarter was the Warriors’ best shooting period on the night. They converted 41% of their attempts. Sadly, none of them came from Buddy Hield. Hence, the Dub Nation didn’t get the opportunity to find some relief. “GET BUDDY HIELD OFF THIS TEAM” was the popular sentiment.

While he has been in a slump, the Warriors as a collective haven’t been at their best. Furthermore, with key players such as Green and Jonathan Kuminga on the sidelines, their chances of winning dwindled. Still, the team would have expected a successful result against a Toronto side that had lost nine of their last 10 games.
Now a game below .500, the pressure is climbing for Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors to get back on their feet and do so quickly. Do you support Kerr’s trust in Buddy Hield? Let us know your views in the comments below.
