Is Shedeur Sanders the next Stephen Curry of college football, or is the comparison too bold?

Shedeur Sanders might have his best season with the Colorado Buffaloes this time. The CFB has already declared the 22-year-old the top quarterback. This declaration came after the team’s 34-7 win over Arizona in the Week 8 clash. But that’s not all about the youngster—Shedeur is emerging as the Stephen Curry of College Football. Well, there surely cannot be a greater compliment than this!

Stephen Curry is (hands down) the greatest shooter in the NBA’s history. When it comes to grabbing the ball mid-air and running it down the court for a perfect 3-pointer, there’s no one better than the Dubs’ playmaker. And it looks like, Shedeur’s confidence with the mid-air ball is a lot like Chef Curry himself. ESPN CFB discusses the 22-year-old Quarterback’s performance in the game and stated: “One thing I’ve said about Shedeur, obviously it helps when you have a great quarterback, he reminds me of Steph Curry in terms of when that ball goes up in the air, you feel confident that it’s going to be on target.”

Well, Sanders’ performance in the games against Arizona was a true display of athleticism. The QB led the Buffs to a crucial win against the Wildcats in Tucson. Shedeur Sanders completed 23 of 33 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns. Moreover, his performance has the experts believe that he would be the top name in the 2025 drafts. This also reminds us of Stephen Curry and his glorious NCAA days. Curry had set the record for NCAA single-season record for three-pointers in his sophomore year.

Following his performance at the college level, the GSW wingman had become one of the top names in the 2009 NBA drafts. Since 2009, the Baby-Faced Assassin has created and recreated history. Surprisingly, both Curry and the Sanders’ have been linked to each other from time to time. Remember when Steph quoted the iconic Deion Sanders?

Stephen Curry uses bold 5-words of Deion Sanders to make claims on a falling Warriors in 2022

Right off the bench as reigning champions, the 2022-23 NBA season was nothing but a forgettable dream for the Golden State Warriors. Despite Stephen Curry’s brilliance, the Dubs had a 14-15 record. The Warriors lacked consistency and grit, unlike their title-winning season. However, in October 2022, the Warriors wingman Steph made a bold 5-world claim. Just so you know, Stephen Curry quoted Deion Sanders, father of Shedeur Sanders and an NFL legend, in his league. Curry quoted the 2x Super Bowl champ and said: “Don’t need that extra motivation.”

Curry indicated that the Warriors were already motivated to go after another championship this season. Moreover, Steph Curry reckoned that Sanders had said it much better than he did. Back then, the Warriors lost their 15th game in the Eastern Conference against the Indiana Pacers. Despite being the best shooting team with a coach like Steve Kerr, Stephen Curry & Co. just couldn’t hold their ground.

While Shedeur Sanders’ game carries the Stephen Curry essence, the 36YO Dubs star’s use of Deion Sanders’ words was interesting. It’s incredible to see the NBA hoopers find their references in other sports. Meanwhile, shrugging the dust of the past, Curry and Co. would be aiming for a glorious season this time for sure.
