Curry and Kerr playing detectives at the Olympics—best moment of the games so far?

A nail-biting conclusion gave the Paris Olympics its first first gold contender. France, in a panic-packed game narrowly beat the FIBA World Cup champions Germany. The Victor Wembanyama-led side began the game in grave danger. However, the electric home ground helped them turn it around. And we can’t blame them. They couldn’t their eyes off for a second during the contest. Nor could Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr.

Turning the nervous moments of the game, Curry and his Golden State Warriors head coach were seen getting a glimpse of the tantalizing action between France and Germany. They were in the Paris arena for their own semifinal clash an hour away. They play Serbia for the other spot in the Final. Yet it seems they were already assessing their gold medal rivals.

Speaking of the first semi-final, France nearly escaped a late comeback from Germany. Franze Wagner, Germany’s ace against Greece could only put 10 points past the domineering France defense which once again didn’t start Rudy Gobert. However, he did strike with a vital three in the end to put the game to a single possession. Dennis Schroder began the game hot but went timid toward the end in his 18-point effort.

For the hosts, keeping Guerschon Yabusele in the starting lineup once again benefitted them. The muscular center put up a team-high 17 points while shooting 64% from the field. He also fought for 7 rebounds, including two offensive boards. Sharpshooter Isaia Cordinier added 16 points while Victor Wembanyama’s three blocks came clutch in their four-point victory.

Now, France will be the watchers as Team USA gears up for their battle.
