Steph Curry has spent his time away from NBA rather quietly. He’s been with the family, made business investments and spoken about the Olympics. But nothing much was said about him and the Warriors not making it to the playoffs. A month after a disappointing end to the season, Steph has finally addressed the elephant in the room.

After being declared as a part of the 3rd All-NBA Team, Curry took to X and expressed his gratitude. He wrote, “Even though year 15 didn’t end as planned, a lot to build on and a lot to look forward to!”

He thanked his fans and then took a moment to himself. Curry reflected on his achievement, “10X All NBA, who would’ve thought.” Prior to his tweet, Magic Johnson and Dirk Nowitzki shared a heartwarming message for him as they welcomed him into an elite club of appearing in the All-NBA Teams 10 times.

The Warriors Superstar ended the tweet with a message for the Paris Olympics. He wrote,

“See y’all this summer
!” alluding to his upcoming stint with Team USA at the Paris Olympics 2024. For the first time in his career, Curry will be representing his nation in the Olympics. In the 2016 Rio Olympics, he reportedly withdrew his name from consideration due to ankle and knee ailments.

This might possibly be his first and last chance with Team USA and hence, to win an Olympic gold. Although the 36-year-old player has said that he isn’t “anywhere close” to retirement yet, he will be 40 by the time the next Olympics roll around. The chances of him being able to represent the USA in the next Olympics seem slim. All his hopes ride on this opportunity.

Steph Curry’s path to the Olympic gold

Curry has been eyeing the gold medal for some time now. After the Team USA roster was announced, the Golden State Warriors’ official Instagram account posted a special throwback to their 2022 NBA Finals victory. In the video, Curry expresses his wishes to play for “Coach Kerr in ’24,”  Steve Kerr is the Head Coach for Team USA. He also said, “I gotta go get an Olympic medal. Save me a spot bruh.” Safe to say, the player has turned his dreams into reality.

In fact, Curry even made a personal sacrifice to be able to play this summer. A lesser-known fact about the player is that he is an exceptional golf player. He became the first person of African-American descent and the fifth active athlete to win the American Century Championship last year. He had to skip out on the opportunity of playing this year due to a schedule clash with the Olympics. In an interview, he admitted, “The chance to represent my country and, hopefully, win an Olympic gold medal for the first time at the 2024 Games in Paris is an opportunity that I simply could not pass up,” making his priorities clear.

The  star has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent his country and the world at the Olympics this summer, securing his place among the greatest players of all time.
