Is Stephen Curry's demand for Team USA a wake-up call or just wishful thinking?

The USA Basketball Men’s national team has landed in Abu Dhabi ahead of their second exhibition game against Australia. Team USA is high on spirits after crushing Canada in the first game. Now they are looking forward to securing another victory against the Australian national team. However, it is worth noting that it is the first time that LeBron James and Stephen Curry have been sharing court together, representing Team USA at the Olympics 2024. Though LeBron has had the opportunity before, such a big stage with all the basketball legends together is totally bliss for Stephen Curry. The Warriors’ point guard recently confessed his true feelings about his experience with the national team till now while interacting with the media.

Apparently, the Fadeaway World interviewed Stephen Curry ahead of Team USA’s second exhibition game and asked the Warriors star about his experience playing for the national team first time and his hopes for Paris. Chef Curry seemed quite delighted as he moved ahead to answer, “It’s been an amazing experience so far. Like the energy with the group, a lot of guys that have accomplished a lot of things in basketball in their careers. And it’s just like we’re just having fun playing the game.” No wonder the Golden Boy refrained from mentioning those words, as The Dream Team 2.0 is stacked up with NBA future Hall of Famers like Kevin DurantLeBron James, and Devin Booker, among others.

Also, Curry further deepened his explanation as he went on to mention how the players with so many accolades are putting aside all the unnecessary things like ego and only maintaining the essential parts of them for a winning mentality. In the Warriors point guard’s words, “That’s the cool part about what we have in front of us, because you put agendas aside, you put egos, you bring the healthy egos of who you are, but you put it aside.” With such clear-cut intentions and the right mentality, the Dream Team is treading on its path to get the Gold in Paris at all costs.

Why Olympics was an unfamiliar territory for Stephen Curry yet?

After joining the league in 2009, Curry had the chance to make the cut for the London Olympics in 2012. However, the Warriors star did not shine as bright as he is today and lost his chance to represent his nation at the Olympics. Another chance for the 36-year-old snooped in year 2016. By then, Stephen Curry had already become a big name in the league with his impeccable shooting refined over time. However, injuries again prevented him from participating that year.

Coming from an elbow injury sustained during the West Conference Finals against OKC that year by the time the Rio Olympics arrived, along with an MCL Sprain in his knee while facing Rockets, doomed his participation in the Summer Olympics. Well, there was no way for Steph to make the national team that year with all these hurdles. However, a significant chance for the Tokyo Olympics was taken aback by the COVID-19 pandemic, which made Curry even more cautious.

Have an interesting take?

He preferred his family instead of a riskier trip. As you can all see, the Warriors point guard missed three Olympic opportunities during his 15-year-stint with the NBA. But not this time since the Golden Boy has joined LeBron and others to don another accolade on his neck at the Paris Olympics by winning Gold. Do you all have a potential contender apart from USA’s dream team? Let us know your thoughts in the comments if you have one.
