Stephen Curry turning to LeBron for advice—Is this the ultimate sign of respect between rivals?

Stephen Curry will be 37 soon. No doubt, he has already started thinking about what’s next for him, and here, his 2024 Paris Olympics teammate, LeBron James, was of great help. After all, James is in the same phase of his life, where fans are scared they won’t get to see him play for long.

In an interview with CNBC, the basketball player was asked whether he and James exchanged notes on owning production companies, just like they did for the Olympics. Curry responded, “For sure. Pretty much everything. I know it’s such a great opportunity to leverage the platform of basketball, you know, doors that is open in a lot of different ways and, you know, amplifying, who we’re about in our own unique ways.”

But why was he asked this question? You see, James owns the SpringHill Company and Curry owns Unanimous Media- both are production companies. And just like how they aided each other in the Olympics, James and Curry discussed aspects of running their companies. At the same time, the Golden State Warriors player shared, “I got at least 3 years left.” Does this mean he won’t play after three years?

Not really. As per Curry’s admission, he will definitely play for the next three years and post that, contemplate whether he wants to continue playing or bid goodbye to the sport. However, it seems Stephen Curry is also looking at James as a guide to a great post-retirement career.

“I know for him [LeBron James], like, he’s been a master at it for a very long time, and being in a space where this is setting up post-career, for us to be able to continue to stay in a space, whether it’s doing some broadcasting, whether it’s going deeper into shows like Mr. Throwback, which we plan on doing. I’m excited about it all.”

Curry’s new mockumentary ‘Mr. Throwback’ is one example of his foray into media, reflecting his interest in continuing to influence even after retiring from the NBA.

And speaking of an era, Klay Thompson’s exit from the Bay Area has already ended one. But the day Curry decides to call it curtains, it will be the end of an era in the NBA, not just in the Dubs franchise. Curry also hinted about it, apart from mentioning his contractual obligation that will keep him active at least till 2027.

Stephen Curry caught the Warriors franchise and the fans off-guard after removing Dubs info from his social media bio that even left his wife, Ayesha puzzled. Since then, an extension has been signed that will earn him a modest fee of $62 million for keeping himself with the franchise.

But all good things must come to an end, and Curry knows it. We should embrace it. However, his CNBC interview aired just days after he extended his GSW contract. Speaking about his retirement plan, Curry told the hosts, Breaking no news on you. I got at least 3 years left. And I know, like, it’s all about not just how many years you play, but the level that you’re playing. So I feel like I have a lot left in the tank.”

“I wanna keep winning. It’s been great to represent 1 franchise for my entire career. I’m going into year 16 now. So, yeah. At least these 3, and then we’ll take it from there,” Curry concluded.
