MVP! MVP! MVP! Stephen Curry is used to hearing these chants inside a basketball arena. Especially when he is playing at Chase Center in front of the Bay Area fans. However, his impact on the game is so huge that he even gets a similar reaction whenever he is outside trying to complete his daily chores. And we got a glimpse of it when Steph made a surprise visit to a retail store, sending his fans into a frenzy.
Picture this: you’re doing your regular grocery run at Costco, when out of nowhere, you spot Stephen Curry casually strolling through the aisles, no entourage in sight, just browsing for items like anyone else. That’s exactly what happened today, and fans were absolutely stunned. Naturally, phones came out, and people started filming the Warriors star, with MVP chants breaking out inside the store. It’s a clear reminder of just how much love fans have for the Baby-Faced Assassin, even when he’s doing something as everyday as grocery shopping.

Moreover, that love has only increased since Steph inked a one-year $62.5 million extension to solidify his future with the Warriors. It was only a few months ago that Bay Area fans were worried about him leaving to join forces with LeBron James. Obviously, there had been murmurs about their possible team up following their massive success in the Paris Olympics. But Steph proved that he is loyal to the Warriors by signing the extension. Meanwhile, LeBron also made a shocking confession when he was asked if he would ever join forces with Steph again, “I have no idea.”
Before Steph’s extension, both superstars would have become free agents at the same time two years from now. But now, by the time Curry enters free agency, LBJ will be 42-years-old and might even have hung his boots. And it looks like the only way he can be Steph’s teammate again is if he moves to the Bay Area, because the Baby-Faced Assassin is unlikely to go anywhere. “I’ve always said I want to be a Warrior for life.” Curry said in July. But unless LeBron agrees to take a major pay cut in his next deal, the Warriors might not have the flexibility to add him. So, a Steph-LeBron team up seems like a far-fetched idea for now.

If the Paris Olympics was the only time that we get to see LeBron and Steph team up in a competitive environment, they surely gave everyone a lifetime worth of memories to cherish. And even LBJ looks back on that experience fondly, “It was everything and more. I was super excited to be able to finally team up with him in a win-or-die type atmosphere. That’s what it was, being a part of the Olympics. It was everything that I dreamed of and aspired to want to be a part of that team, along with Steph. Great memories. Something that I’ll remember from my basketball career for the rest of my life, for sure.”

With LeBron winning MVP and Steph bagging his maiden Olympic gold, and the way he did it in the final two games, it will go down as one of the most iconic moments of their careers. And while Steph continues to receive MVP chants wherever he goes, even at Costco, LeBron realizes why he is loved by everyone, “I understand what Steph has done for this game. I understand what he’s done for his organization, what he’s done for the community, people all over the world. Just by his approach to the game and how he is as a man. How he is as a family man. How he is as a husband, a dad, a son, all that stuff.” Although their future team up remains a question, Steph and LeBron are expected to meet soon as their teams face each other in Las Vegas tomorrow.
