Society has been unforgiving, leaving many to suffer in silence, trapped by the weight of their own secrets. So, what if they want to finally speak out? The society will judge. To shatter this age-old notion, a powerful movement has taken over social media, where individuals create a safe space to share their deepest secrets without the fear of judgment. Stephen Curry’s sister, Sydel Curry-Lee recently found herself in the middle of one such moment and her confession reflects a story many soon-to-be mothers can relate to.

By now, most of you have probably already figured out that the trend making rounds on the internet is— “We listen, we don’t judge”. On Cameron Brink’s Straight to Cam show, the WNBA star and her God-sister, Curry-Lee, participated in the trend. The two share a special bond as Stephen Curry’s mother, Sonya, gave Brink her name. This connection made it all the more comfortable for Sydel to open up.

In the game, Curry-Lee opened up about hiding things from her husband, Phoenix Suns star Damion Lee. Now, before you judge, remember the title of the game. She had good intentions, though. “Sometimes, when I want to go get like McDonald’s, I turn my location off,” Sydel said. The reason? “So my husband doesn’t see it.” Still confused? So was Brink. So, Sydel explained, “I feel like he’s judging me because I’m eating a Big Mac.” Well, the heart wants what it wants, and Sydel finds it hard to resist a McDonald’s Big Mac. But that wasn’t all.

Before anyone could point a finger at her, she gave a disclaimer, “I’ve been married for a long time. Most of my life, I was around my husband and my kids.” Then came Curry-Lee’s other confession, “Sometimes, I tell my husband I have explosive diarrhoea so I can get a few more minutes to myself in the bathroom.” She further added, “I’m literally just scrolling my phone.”

Dealing with motherhood is extremely hard, and it’s even harder when you have a son over 3 years old and a one-year-old daughter. At times, there’s also mental exhaustion. That’s why everyone needs that “Me Time” to spend time alone and recharge. So does Curry-Lee, as she’s going through the difficult journey of motherhood for the third time thanks to her mother, Sonya Curry.

Stephen Curry’s mother reveals conversation with daughter about third child

Sonya loved her three children deeply, as any mother would, but it’s her grandchildren who seem to hold more pieces of her heart. She couldn’t “soak in” as much with her kids as she does with the grandkids. Stephen Curry has four children, Seth Curry has three, and only Sydel Curry-Lee has two. Sonya felt she needed three kids to complete her family, but Sydel had no intention of adding to that.

On The Travis Hearn Podcast, Sonya shared the conversation she had with Sydel. “I hope you all have one more. Maybe two.” To that, Curry-Lee reacted, “She’s like, ‘mom’; like, gave me the look of death,” Sonya recalled. “She sent me right to hell on that one. And she’s like, ‘no. I’m done… I’m finished breastfeeding Daryn.'” But Sonya wasn’t convinced. “I just looked at her and I said, well, you know, I’m praying for her. And she said, ‘Well, I’m praying that I don’t have any’,” Curry’s mother said.

What’s your perspective on:

Is sneaking a Big Mac really a crime, or just a relatable mom moment we all get?

Have an interesting take?

The next thing you know, God seemed to have listened to Sonya’s prayer. And Curry-Lee remarked about it last month, stating, “She’s always wanted me to have a third and I was adamant on no no no. But you know what they say about a praying grandmother 😅😂 Baby 3 will be her 10th grandchild 🥰.”
