Very few players in the NBA have carved out a legacy quite like Stephen Curry. Despite his obvious disadvantages, Curry completely revolutionized the game of basketball with his elite movement and otherworldly shooting ability. These qualities are what let him resonate with many young basketball players worldwide, regardless of their gender. Two of whom happen to be emerging basketball stars, Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu.

Golden State Warriors HC Steve Kerr admitted Curry’s impact on women’s basketball during a conversation on the Morning Roast. He said, “I really give Steph a lot of credit. When I watch a lot of girls play, I think he has inspired a whole generation of young women players. People can watch Steph and relate to him because he’s not 6’8” and 200 pounds like LeBron. Catlin Clark has clearly been influenced by him, just like Sabrina Ionescu has.”

The Warriors’ superstar has often advocated for women’s basketball and empowerment in general. He even revealed to have joined Under Armor with the aim of “providing a platform to empower young women,” and went on to design shoes in honor among others. Catching onto the bits, Kerr highlighted the very role Curry so naturally adorns.

He said, “It’s not just Steph’s play, but his advocacy for the women’s game. He has done so many things to really help the women’s game. The Sabrina 3-Point in the All-Star Weekend was fantastic. He goes to Stanford games, brings his daughters, everything going on with his Under Armour brand.”

Kerr further congratulated Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes for their incredible victory in the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament. However, he also mentioned that he wasn’t able to watch their game.

The Iowa Hawkeyes managed to avenge last season’s finals defeat to LSU, as they won the match by a scoreline of 94-87. Caitlan Clark led the way for Iowa, recording 41 points, 12 assists, and 7 rebounds during the game. With only two games separating Iowa and the coveted national title, could Clark finally get her hands on the NCAA title?

After a four-year grind, Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes are on the verge of winning the NCAA title. Despite Clark’s stellar performances throughout her collegiate career, the Hawkeyes managed to reach the NCAA finals just once. Last season, Iowa blew their opponents out of the water with incredible offensive displays. However, the LSU Tigers and Angel Reese proved a task too big for them to overcome. LSU defeated Iowa by a comprehensive scoreline of 102-85.

However, the Hawkeyes and Caitlin Clark seem destined to finally clinch the NCAA title. After defeating LSU in their Elite Eight matchup, the Hawkeyes have become the nailed-on favorites for the title. They would face Paige Bueckers and the UConn Huskies in the Final Four on 5th April. If Iowa manages to defeat the Huskies, they will either face South Carolina or NC State in the finals, which takes place on 7th April.

This is the last opportunity for Caitlin Clark to win the national title, as she has already enlisted for the 2024 WNBA Draft. She is one of the most sought-after prospects in this season’s draft. Winning the title with Iowa would cap off arguably one of the greatest women’s college basketball careers.
