When you do everything perfectly but slip up in one moment, it all comes down to that. Something similar happened to De’Aaron Fox. The Kings’ guard had an incredible weekend, racking up points left and right, but that awkward moment stole the show. Fortunately, his wife Reece came to the rescue and saved him and Stephen Curry with just 4-words.
A highlight moment of the game came when Fox stole the ball from Isaiah Collier. But as Fox made his move, the Jazz guard stepped on his ankle, resulting in Fox’s left shoe coming off. However, it didn’t take the 26-year-old much time to swiftly slip the shoe back on as he raced toward the basket.
During the post-game press conference, when he was asked about the awkward moment, Fox explained, “He ended up stepping on my foot and that’s why it came off.” He also stated that it’s a common occurrence with all types of shoes. “But, being able to get it back on and still being able to get to the basket, you know, that’s that was like the first thing going through my head,” he added. “Get this shoe back on and try to make a play.” Reece took to IG to share the moment, calling it a perfect advertisement for Curry. She posted the clip on her story with the caption, “Great Curry Brand commercial.”

Reece is spot on. Fox’s emphasis on swiftness in wearing the shoe emphasizes how different Curry Brand sneakers are. As the brand’s ambassador, there’s no harm in promoting them off the chart once in a while.

Despite the slip-up, it didn’t affect his 49-point performance. In fact, not only did the 6-foot-3 guard get his shoe back on in a fraction of a second, but a big shout to the brand for that, he went on to score a bucket on the same play. Impressed by his moves, even the Warriors star jumped in to further promote the $4.1 billion brand.
Stephen Curry reacts to De’Aaron Fox’s awkward moment
The NBA’s video quickly went viral, circulating throughout every corner, and it caught Stephen Curry’s attention, too. Being the leading man behind the brand, Curry commented on the post, “Fox 1 👀.” For those who might not know, the Under Armour ‘Curry Fox 1’ is Fox’s signature shoe, which he donned on Saturday night. Under Armour’s basketball page, too, dropped three Fox emojis on the post.

After a successful partnership with Under Armour, the company extended its collaboration with Stephen Curry and launched the Curry Brand. Last October, they brought De’Aaron Fox on board as their first ambassador. Justifying why Fox was the ideal choice, UA’s CEO, Stephanie Linnartz, said, “De’Aaron embodies what it means to be an Under Armour athlete by creating a lasting impact, changing the game of basketball and the communities we serve for the better.”
Given how Fox quickly showed up for the brand, it’s clear why he was the perfect fit. Surely Curry, too, believes the same. The two will certainly be spotted stepping up more in the future when questions regarding the brand come in line.
