The US Open women’s finals went down yesterday, and Aryna Sabalenka, who was caught on camera smashing her racquet after losing to Coco Gauff in 2023, came back to snag the win against J Pegula this time. And guess who was there to catch all the action? Stephen Curry and his wife Ayesha Curry were courtside on Saturday, soaking up the buzz of the finals.

Stephen Curry took a tour of the stadium and was seen taking pics with Jessica Pegula and a bunch of others. Pegula said, “Being able to talk to Steph was really cool. I met him kind of briefly at the Olympics during the opening ceremony, and we traded pins, but yeah, it was cool for him to come out.” Even though Pegula lost to Aryna Sabalenka in the US Open final with a tough 7-5, 7-5 score, it was awesome to see her connect with Steph, who was there to catch all the action.

The Chef also made a rookie slip by calling the US Open women’s final on Saturday “Championship Saturday.” He said, “It’s championship Saturday. I hope that’s what they call it in the US open world,” Curry said. Unfortunately, he got it wrong. It’s a bit of a bummer to see him miss that one, but hey, even the best have their off days!
Also, to be fair to Curry, he made that slip because, let’s be honest, tennis isn’t exactly his jam. But he still showed up, just like he did at the Paris Olympics. The cameras caught him rooting for Team USA’s gymnastics squad, including Simone Biles, when they snagged gold before the hoopers even hit the floor. It’s dope to see him support athletes across the board. And on top of that, did you know Pegula’s husband is a huge Curry fan?
Pegula Reveals Her Husband’s iPhone Name: ‘Steph Curry’”
Taylor Gahagan, who married Jessica Pegula in 2021, is a massive NBA fan and a huge Steph Curry admirer. He was totally flustered when he finally met the legendary shooter. Pegula even wondered if Gahagan might have come off a bit overexcited.
As they sat close to the baseline to chat with Pegula before the game, Gahagan got completely star struck by Curry’s presence, getting a little lost in the moment with the four-time NBA champ.“My husband, his iPhone name is Steph Curry, because he loves Steph Curry,” Pegula said. “If you connect to Bluetooth or send him something or AirDrop, it’s ‘Steph Curry’s iPhone.”
Gahagan was so pumped that he texted Pegula, who had left early, saying he told Curry that his iPhone is named “Steph Curry” because he’s such a huge fan. Pegula thought it was super cute but was a bit worried Curry might think Gahagan was a bit too intense. But Curry actually loved it and found it funny rather than weird.
