Did the Warriors just prove they're still the team to beat, or was it a fluke?

The Warriors are legit! Well, they started the season red-hot by winning six of their first seven games. But many believed it was only because of their easy schedule. That’s why all eyes were on tonight’s encounter against the Celtics, as facing the reigning champions would reveal their true potential. Sure enough, Stephen Curry and Co. proved the doubters wrong as they conquered the challenge, that too in the away territory. However, it took a valiant effort to do so, and The Baby-Faced Assassin learned a crucial lesson in the process at TD Garden.

“We’re capable of beating anybody. It’s hard. You gotta embrace the challenge,” Stephen Curry said in the postgame interview. Well, no one expected the Warriors to be this good right away following the departure of Klay Thompson. But they have not lost on the road so far and are currently on a five-game winning streak. Surely, this gives them the confidence for the upcoming games, as they prepare to face the Cavs and Thunder to finish their road trip.

Moreover, Chef Curry also addressed the reason behind tonight’s win, “Our offense took care of the ball, which is something we struggled with historically. But when we have good possessions and get shots whether we make them offensive rebound and then we get our defense set, I guess with that team, that’s the only way you can win and so we controlled that down the stretch.” Obviously, the Warriors have had their fair share of battles against the Cs, even defeating them in the NBA Finals two years ago. So, they knew they could not afford to make any mistakes against them.

Yes, tonight’s win was massive for their confidence. But there is still a long way to go. And Stephen Curry understands it, “This is a different year. We’re trying to, you know, take baby steps and develop an identity.” Well, they no longer have one of the Splash Brothers to rescue them from a tough situation. But surprisingly, Buddy Hield has not let the franchise feel the void of Klay’s expected yet shocking departure.

Taking everyone by surprise, Buddy is averaging a career-high 21.9 points so far. Even tonight, the hoopster scored 16 points and hit 4 shots from deep range. He also hit arguably the most important shot of the game, which was a dagger three in the final seconds to extend his team’s lead and seal the victory.

Sure enough, it was Stephen Curry who assisted him, and the Baby-Faced Assassin praised his new Splash Buddy after the game, “Buddy Hield has been playing unbelievable. That big shot he had in the corner was huge.”
