Charles Barkley has been a menace on Live TV, passing down opinions without any filter. In his latest shenanigans, he took a dig at the Bay Area people. While the depressed Warriors fans are slowly picking themselves up after the Jimmy Butler trade, Chuckster burdened them with a controversial remark about the city.
In his recent segment on Inside the NBA, he targeted the city once again, after calling the Bay Area an “armpit of America” once i the past. This time, he stated that he wouldn’t want to be attending the All-Star games, even though he is contractually bound to do. He said, “I’m not going. I’m not going to that rat-infested place out in San Francisco.”
As the Bay Area still adjusts to the tumultuous times the team is facing, adding to that, they’re adjusting to the new addition – Jimmy Butler, Barkley’s remarks weren’t taken in good spirit (of course! Duh!). Fortunately, Bay Area superstar Stephen Curry didn’t let his people suffer the humiliation, as he stepped up to save the city’s pride (with an olive branch!).

Speaking to NBC Sports, he said, “I don’t know if they trust me as the driver. But a sprinter van, take him on a ferry boat. Yeah, we got to get Chuck out the scene and there’s some good food out here too. He’ll appreciate that.”
Defending the Bay Area, even Mayor Daniel Lurie offered to change the Suns legend’s perspective with a trip around the city. Notably, Chuck had criticized the SF’s crime rate once in the past. Of course, Mayor Lurie needed the city’s superstar to lure Chuck into the Bay Area happily.
But the question remains, even as a joke, why would Chuck wouldn’t like San Francisco and its energy?

Why does Chuck hate Stephen Curry’s San Francisco?
Well, it dates back to several years. Earlier, Charles Barkley liked the Golden State Warriors like everyone else until they moved out of Oakland. After a steady run at the Oracle Arena, serving the Oakland fans, the team changed its base to San Francisco in 2019. It doesn’t seem to sit well with Chuck.
Once, speaking of it, he said, “I hate the Warriors fans in San Francisco, but they were amazing in Oakland… They were tremendous. Even when they were good with Chris Mullin, Hardaway, and Mitch Richmond, they were terrific. And when the Warriors weren’t any good and they were in Oakland, they were fantastic.” Looks like the 61-year-old isn’t a fan of betrayal.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Charles Barkley justified in his harsh critique of San Francisco, or is he just stirring the pot?

Apart from that, he had once raised concern about the city’s crime with his humorous touch. When Draymond Green retaliated Barkley for his nasty takes on the city, saying, “Yes, You can walk around,” Chuck retorted saying, “Yeah, with a bulletproof vest.” Does San Francisco really have a higher crime rate?

Well, it used to have but it seemed to have come down drastically, as per outgoing Mayor London Breed. Mayor Breed’s office stated that the city had a “historic” 20-year low drop in homicides and car break-ins. Nevertheless, should Chuck take the ride with Steph and change his mindset? Let us know in the comments.
