Stephen Curry has a deep passion for basketball, and it goes beyond the NBA. He’s also a big supporter of the WNBA, as we saw when he took part in last year’s special 3-point contest against WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu. Now, with his new role as assistant GM at Davidson College, Curry’s keeping an eye on NCAA games as well. And if you impress him, you’re definitely getting a shoutout. That’s exactly what happened on Monday.
This was about Azzi Fudd. With the 2025 WNBA Draft approaching, the talented guard confirmed she won’t be entering her name this year. Instead, she has decided to stay at the University of Connecticut to pursue another season. A few days ago, she announced the news by stating, “Hey Gampel, thanks for last night… See you next year 🤗😝😏 #onemoreyear.”
By staying another season, Azzi can also take advantage of the new WNBA collective bargaining agreement and continue growing her impressive NIL portfolio and also focus on chasing the NCAA championship. Stephen Curry fully supported her decision. He even shared a 4-word heartfelt message on X, “Proud of you, Azzi!”

Curry’s message highlighted his strong belief in Azzi’s talent and determination as she continues to pursue her goals. With Paige Bueckers entering the draft, this could be Azzi’s time to shine at UConn. Honestly, her decision isn’t all that shocking, especially considering she hasn’t been able to fully enjoy her time with the Huskies because of her injury. During that tough period, it was also Stephen Curry who supported her.

Stephen Curry assisted Azzi Fudd through her career-threatening injury
Back in November 2023, Azzi sustained a terrible knee injury while practicing. She tore her ACL in her right knee, which needed surgery. Naturally, her parents were worried about the challenging rehab ahead. But when Stephen Curry caught wind of the situation, he stepped up to help. His team of trainers and medical experts put together a detailed recovery plan and worked hand-in-hand with UConn’s training staff to help Azzi get back on the hardwood.
For three years, the 22-year-old has been associated with Curry’s organization, which took care of all the expenses for her much-needed medical trips. Even Azzi’s parents were uncertain if they could have managed to provide the same level of support for their daughter as the SC30 team did.
