In a post-game interview after trailing behind the Minnesota Timberwolves, Chef Curry was upfront about a particular question. When asked whether his players have a clear idea about the in-season format, his remark was worth noting. Curry said, “If you just take the time to read the situation, it’s pretty straightforward. I love the commentary around; nobody knows what’s going on.”
The star guard added, “There are six groups, and whoever has the best record out of the six groups, and two wild cards, you go. And then you play a bracket from there and try to get to Vegas. The final four play two games. The championship is an extra game. But there are monetary stakes on the line… Pretty simple,” The point guard is not too far away from knowing the ground reality and mocking the situation.
The Warriors are up against the Timberwolves on November 15th in the in-season tournament. Let’s see if the players know it all or not. But for the time being, a breakdown of the format is crucial for newbie fans.

The first game of the in-season started on November 3, amidst the ongoing NBA regular season. With that in mind, please note that the in-tournament will be observed for seven days, evenly distributed across this month. As this is not a separate arrangement from the regular season, the scores of each team will play a role in determining their position in the 2023–24 season.
While the Golden State Warriors are part of the West C group, other teams are segregated on a random basis based on last year’s win-loss. Post-group play, the winning teams will advance to the knockout rounds, along with two wild-card teams from each conference. The teams will then face three simultaneous elimination rounds: quarterfinals, semifinals, and then the championship in Vegas on December 9.
