The Dubs have lost the trick. Or did they get finally exposed? We never know but looking at the team’s pattern in the last few games, the Golden State Warriors are repeating his crimes. After an explosive first half, the team lost the plot in the third quarter, giving their opponents a platform to orchestrate their comeback. After holding an 18-point lead at one point in the second quarter, the team suffered a loss against an under .500 team. Amid this situation, Stephen Curry dropped three golden rules to save the Warriors’ misery.
Heading into the season, the Dubs never really looked like a championship-contending team on paper. However, Steve Kerr’s all-new approach with a 12-man rotational lineup organically improved the team’s assists, rebounds, and points in the paint. One of the notable strengths of this team is the unending supply of energy. This deep roster has a highly lethal second unit that has the potential to defeat any team.
Nevertheless, the same gift turned into a burden. While the team secured blowout wins initially, it started choking at the latter end of the game. Notably, in the game against the OKC Thunder, the team brought a 30-point lead to 6 points with a sloppy third quarter. The second unit lineup was the major culprit behind the act. This became a recurring act and finally, the team suffered their first back-to-back loss.

Addressing the issue, Stephen Curry, who also had a sloppy run in this stretch riddled with leaking turnovers, laid out three areas to improve to save the team. Two of the areas can be clubbed together, as the superstar laid them out together.
1. Be more intentional
As mentioned above, Kerr has charted out fresh playing rules for the Warriors. While the team heavily relied on the core in the past, the team literally has 6 to 7 important players on the deck. It could be anyone’s night or a combined effort from all of them. So, with an all-new method in place, Steph Curry made a simple request.
Speaking at the post-game presser after the Nets loss, he said, “No matter who’s out there on the floor we’re still playing 12 guys and you have to be able to adjust no matter what combinations are so offensively moving the ball everybody being involved as a screener as a passer as a dribbler I think we can be a little bit more intentional about what type of shots we might want to create with certain lineups and that’s part of the growth of the team.”
2. & 3. Building communication and trust
It’s fairly a new side with a lot of role players. Moreover, the team doesn’t rely on physicality or aggression, but solely on basketball IQ and solid ball movement. While they have Draymond Green to mastermind their plays in real-time, the rest of the team will need to work on trust and communication for the other aspect.

Speaking of trust and communication, Steph laid out an example from the Monday night game against the Nets. He said, “We got to work on our communication and again the trust of how a five-man defense is supposed to run.” Undoubtedly, the Warriors have improved on their defensive attack compared to their previous season. But, it’s still not enough for Steph’s cause. Moreover, the superstar has found a way to improve it as well.

‘Where there’s a will, there’s a way’ is an old saying. These two back-to-back losses may have unlocked the untapped camaraderie within this new side. And, a good practice session is enough to spark it. Speaking of improving the communication at the presser, Steph said, “Any practice window you have or any practice session, it usually builds that connection that you need, especially after a couple of losses ’cause we all got to be in this together.”
With the Warriors scheduled with two practice sessions this week, the team has time to look back at their mistakes and comeback with intention. Do you think the Warriors will reclaim the top-seed once again? Let us know in the comments below.
