The Warriors are struggling! They headed into last night’s Cavs clash hoping to continue their momentum from their win against the Suns. However, defeating East’s top-seeded team became an enormous challenge. Despite the home-court advantage, Steve Kerr’s squad got blown out by 18 points. And the embarrassing loss left Stephen Curry comparing the team’s previous years’ struggles to this season.

Well, the Bay Area franchise has not had much success since winning the championship two years ago. They even missed the playoffs last season. Addressing if the team’s current struggles seem like Déjà vu, Steph said post-game, “There is a little Déjà vu, but I think it’s different just in the sense of how we started the year.”

Surprisingly, the Warriors started the year red-hot despite Klay Thompson’s departure. But this month has been particularly tough for them as they have lost 9 of their last 13 games. Steph added, “Last two years, it’s been kind of opposite where we had slow starts, had to chase a little bit and finish the year strong. This year we started 12-3, and that’s flipped on its head. So, it’s an emotional rollercoaster for sure. It’s frustrating.”

However, he did see some similarities between their current situation and the year they won the championship. Of course, Steph highlighted the Warriors had an 18-2 start that year, but went on a major slump from January to April. It caused them to drop to the third seed.

Well, the situation is much worse this season as they are currently ranked tenth in the West. But Steph has not lost hope!

Unfortunately, the Warriors have ended this year on a loss. But their upcoming four games are all at home, and Steph wants to capitalize on the home-court advantage to spark a turnaround. He said, “We’re just very average. I think we understand that better days can be ahead. You’re not in that big of a hole in the Western Conference, if you look at the standards. You go on a five-six game run.”

Of course, it’s easier said than done, especially when Steve Kerr’s squad has had a tough time getting two consecutive wins.

But the Warriors have come out of such adverse situations before.

And despite the emotional turmoil in the locker room, Steph has faith in his team to do it again, “You know it’s a tough task, but that fine line between losing hope and confidence and understanding one good week you kind of back in. That’s where we are… as the calendar flips into new year, this small homestand that we’re on. Like I said, it’s literally right there to turn the corner to have a positive momentum and something that you can kind of hold on to as identity of how we win basketball games.”

Well, they will face the Sixers next on Thursday. Surely, Steph and the rest of the Warriors squad would be aiming to put these words into action and start the new year strong. Do you think they can do it?
