Last night, the Warriors stamped their authority with a comeback win. Yes, we are highlighting a win against an 11th seeding team as ‘authority’. It’s indeed a special win for the Dubs because they’ve defied their judgment. Two months ago, slowly sinking in the deep water, Stephen Curry believed that the Bay Area side wasn’t cut out for comebacks. It was a depressing period. Remember, Curry even publicly said that he doesn’t want to force trades. Well, times have changed!
Thanks to Jimmy Butler.
In January, the Warriors suffered a humiliating loss against the Kings (129-99). It was much similar to last night’s game, where the opponents took a quick-fire lead in the opening minutes, leaving the Dubs to play catch up for the rest of the game. While the team staged a comeback against the Nets, the Kings’ game played out differently. Speaking of the loss, Steph candidly said, “It’s a double-digit lead before the first timeout and 36-21, we’re not really built—especially with the situation—to have that crazy comeback.”

Those are indeed tough words to hear from a 4x NBA Champ. But times have changed. Last night, the Warriors came back from a 5-27 deficit and finished the game on top. Now, a reporter reminded Steph of his statement from the past. Before addressing the comeback, Stephen Curry revealed how Jimmy Butler’s presence changed a lot, individually and as a team. “Jimmy obviously helps. He helps a lot. Led to winning because we have a good balance and the flow with his impact on the game is pretty obvious,” said the happy skipper of the Warriors.
Steph Curry looks invigorated lately. It’s about his health, the time of the season, their place in the standings and the trade: “All of it.”

Following that, Steph went into the technicalities of the comeback and also revealed the Butler secret, that helped to stage the comeback. It’s indeed a privilege to hear about the team’s contrast from the superstar himself.

Stephen Curry reveals the Warriors’ secret ingredients
We all know what’s the secret ingredient is, it’s the Jimmy Butler effect. Other than that, there are a few technicalities involved. Stephen Curry, speaking of the team’s ability to come back, added, “I watched the film, probably like six possessions that maintained or capitalized off of momentum and allow the comeback to happen.”
What’s your perspective on:
Is Jimmy Butler the secret sauce the Warriors needed to reignite their championship hopes?
Have an interesting take?
So simple. It was just a matter of six possessions where the Warriors managed to bring down a 20-point deficit. How is it even a sensible response? Well, Curry did dig deeper. Around the 4th minute mark of the first quarter, the Warriors trailed by 22 points and barely sunk any three-pointers.

However, in the second quarter, the Dubs’ defense set up huge humps and completely shut off the Nets’ offensive. At halftime, Steph & Co. trailed by just 5 points. Speaking of which, Curry said, “We either picked apart the defense, got an easy lay-up or Jimmy goes to the free throw line or use chaos off the ball to get a good look. Those six possessions can dictate… We didn’t have that early in the year. We had some spirited efforts to give back what you couldn’t get over the hump where losing a lead down the stretch because we just didn’t have the right chemistry. So, it’s a little different right now.”
Here, we need to highlight something. Jimmy Butler and his FTs. Playing in his 11th game, he became the 5th Dubs star with most FTs. When the team struggled to shoot from the distance, he muscled his way through the paint and drew calls. He dropped 10-10 from the line. Truly a secret weapon. What do you think?
