“I’m the petty king. So I know all about everything and I use it as entertainment and have fun with it,” said Stephen Curry back in June 2022. When looking at the coolness and decisiveness the 3-point leader possesses, not many can accuse him of holding grudges or a sense of triviality, right? Unfortunately, that is not the case. The Warriors star loves it when he gets the better of his rivals, as evident from his iconic ‘Night-Night’ gesture. On top of that, Stephen Curry keeps receipts. All he needs is the perfect opportunity to get back at the person who wronged him. Now, after what happened recently, PJ Washington would be wishing that he never poked the bear.

Stephen Curry participated in a Q&A session after the Warriors’ recent win. During the same, a reporter touched upon the player pulling out his iconic ‘Night-Night’ move during the 3 quarter. With a smile, Curry replied that he also pulled out the ‘Night-Night’ in the 3 quarter during an NBA Finals game. For the 3-Point Leader, pulling out the move is justified when “it’s just a moment where I had with somebody on the other side. Longer story”.

This, of course, was a reference to PJ Washington, who has stolen and used Curry’s action twice this season now. “For Curry, the ‘Night-Night’ isn’t just a celebration; it’s a statement. And this time, it was aimed at PJ. 11 games ago, Washington hit Curry’s own signature move after a Mavericks win over Golden State. Curry didn’t forget.

On top of that, pulling out the ‘Night-Night’ was an indication that a new level of confidence had overtaken the player.

“That’s a reflection that, for sure, but I think what we’re doing right now, everybody playing with confidence, having fun, like usually for me, that’s when the….. like a front running type team when things are going great but you kind of have to manifest that while playing with joy, and then that feeds on itself,” said Curry.

The Warriors star’s words reflect a shift in momentum within the team. With Jimmy Butler in the mix, the team now has one more offensive force and a tactical mind. This allows them to play with a swagger that had been missing earlier in the season.

“So, the confidence produces good play which allows you to have fun, and then you try to compete. Repeat that cycle as much as possible. Night-Night stuff is never really predictable, it’s just whenever I’m feeling it and you gotta be good to do it”.

Pulling out the Night-Night during the 3 quarter is nothing short of diabolical. However, why waste the opportunity when PJ Washington is still there?

Back in February, the Mavericks secured a 111-107 win against the Golden State Warriors. As Washington walked back to the locker room, he hit the signature “Night Night” pose with his teammates. Perhaps he should have heard Curry’s remarks from back in 2022. He probably did not, or he simply did not remember or did not care. Either way, Stephen Curry, the ‘Petty King’ manifested his revenge game. It took him 11 days of waiting, but it was quite satisfying.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Stephen Curry's 'Night-Night' move signal the Warriors' return to dominance in the NBA?

Have an interesting take?

The recent action certainly brought out a rare-rare side of the Warriors star. After all, after hitting the ‘Night-Night’, ‘Petty’ Curry also shouted “F— Yeah” in PJ Washington’s direction. Warriors fans will be talking about this one for weeks. After all, they are rare, but always exciting whenever Curry drops one moment of his ‘pettiness’.

Well, not exciting for Washington. And certainly not exciting for Jayson Tatum, who was also on the receiving end of ‘Petty’ Curry antics this season.

Stephen Curry trolled Jayson Tatum with a “WE DID IT” celebration

The Boston Celtics winning the 2024 NBA championship was certainly a memorable occasion. And the perfect spot to get some potential meme content. Jayson Tatum’s post-game speech gave the perfect one, as the player grabbed his head and loudly exclaimed “WE DID IT”. Stephen Curry was later seen imitating the same gesture during an episode of ‘Dude Perfect’ published back in November. The same occurred after the host made Curry participate in his custom contests, including a round of ‘Arena Golf’.

Well, knowing the 3-point leader’s love for golf, this was an easy challenge. Curry won the game by 14 points, giving him a good enough reason to imitate the 2024 champion. What was the reason behind the pettiness?

Well, as a few fans theorized, this may have been a reference to Jayson Tatum saying “What you gonna say now? What you gonna say now?” as confetti fell over him after the NBA Finals. Well, Stephen Curry said it first, back in 2022, after the Warriors clinched their 4, and most recent, title of the 21 century.

As a result, the comments section was filled up with remarks like “Steph so petty I love it”, “Curry really a troll at heart”, “I don’t even like him but this was funny icl”, and “Steph doing Tatum’s “We Did It!” At 13:31 is absolutely diabolical.”

The Warriors seem to have improved upon their previous precarious position. If they move at their current pace, they could have a shot at competing in the playoffs. If that happens, we can certainly hope for more ‘Petty’ Curry appearances.
