Stephen Curry and Obama bonding over golf—Is this the ultimate power duo in sports and politics?

The hustle never stops and when the hustler is Stephen Curry, you better believe he’s up to leave some more marks on society. Since returning from international duty, Curry has kept himself busy with multiple projects that benefit the community. He found himself a partner who’s also a “hustler” in Curry’s words.

Stephen Curry completed another successful annual edition of the Underrated Cup, a golf tournament. The goal is to involve more youth in the sport, which will reward them with mentorship programs and development curriculums. And in all these, Steph had a special playing partner, former US president Barack Obama, as the duo engaged in Michael Jordan‘s favorite addiction.

During his latest appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Curry revealed his interaction with Obama. Showing a group photo from their event at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey that included Obama, Curry remarked how incredible his experience was as they made it a bit more fun with some bets. “Oh, he is a hustler. He is good. Just a dollar bet just to make it fun. Just make sure there’s a winner and a loser. But he’s lefty. I call him very resourceful. He doesn’t hit it very far, but he hits it straight,” Curry said about his golf partner.

Michael Jordan was an avid golfer who even used to hit the courses before a basketball game. Comedian Cedric once revealed his encounter with MJ on a golf course. Charles Barkley was also present there, and they were betting $10,000 a hole, which dissuaded Cedric from betting altogether. While Obama and Curry didn’t have that sort of bet, the Warriors star added how the 63-year-old is a great companion to play with. “He’s a great partner to have because he likes to talk trash too,” Curry said.

Stephen Curry also discussed his aim to diversify golf by providing “Equity, access, and opportunity” with more participation from minorities. Curry has found Obama alongside him in this venture, but his connection with the former president’s family goes deeper.

To secure Eat, Curry came together in a business venture with Michelle Obama. The former first lady co-founded PLEZi Nutrition. The company aims to improve standards for the production and marketing of children’s food across the country and Steph and Ayesha Curry became a part of it. Earlier this year, the couple were welcomed into the company as investors by Michelle Obama.

“We’re so excited to welcome Stephen and Ayesha Curry to the PLEZi Nutrition family,” Mrs Obama said. “They are true role models. They’re extraordinary at what they do and how they go about their work – with creativity, integrity, and a whole lot of fun.” Steph has already worked with partners like No Kid Hungry, Community Kitchens, and Brigaid in the past, hence this move made all the sense as it aligns with his project.
