Stephen Curry, who is referred to as the ‘Greatest Shooter of All Time,’ by hoops fanatics, does not think of himself as worthy or fit for the title. Why? It seems the Olympic debut of the Golden Boy, alongside ‘equal legends,’ opened his eyes. Regardless, his unbelievable clutch moments continue to this day in Golden State, at 36. Last season, he once again led the three-point shooting chart with 357 long rangers! Also, with his current all-time 3,747 three-pointers, he is moving toward surpassing the 4000 mark next season. For the Bay Area camp, it is obviously marvelous but not enough for the Olympic Club’s gym, as per the man himself.
The Warriors star has declined his shooting title, further adding that he “feels like a rookie,” which is rather weirdly understandable considering NBA greats like Kevin Durant and LeBron James co-exist in the same Team USA atmosphere. Apart from the trio’s status, everyone on the roster is a legend in their own right. Though it is enough to make anyone nervous with such a stacked team, Curry did not lose his cool.
“It was like day one of training camp: looking around, taking in all the sights and sounds and the way that they operate, and just trying to blend in. Then, when it was my turn to do my thing, just have fun with it,” Stephen Curry explained how he coped with the experience of being in the same room with the legends of the game. But that’s what has driven the Splash Brother so far in the hoops universe, as he admitted, “That’s how I really approached it back in ‘09, and good things have happened from ‘09 to now.”

Nevertheless, coming back to the deep-range shots and their shooters, is Curry really not the best in Team USA and the NBA?
Stephen Curry is miles ahead with his 3p specialty- the numbers say…
When it comes to the most likely comparison of seniority- Kevin Durant and LeBron James are the ones that stand equal or have more reputation and experience than the Golden Boy. However, neither of them has achieved what Stephen Curry has in his career. The face of the NBA, LeBron James, has made 2410 long rangers in 6926 attempts with 34.8% accuracy. On the other hand, a year younger than Steph, his ex-teammate KD is still far behind with his 2031/5248 three-shooting stat with 38.7% accuracy. Stephen Curry is in a league on his own with his 3737/8805 stat line and staggering 42.6% beyond-the-arc shooting accuracy.
However, when it comes to accuracy, it will be Boston Celtics‘ point guard Jrue Holiday topping that list, as per last season’s numbers. He racked up 138 threes in 322 attempts last season with 42.9% shooting accuracy. It was much better than Stephen Curry’s 375 three-pointers on 876 attempts (40.8%) if we overlook the fact that the Splash Brother has attempted almost 3x shots.
What’s your perspective on:
Stephen Curry not the greatest shooter? Is he being too humble or just realistic?
Have an interesting take?
So, it’s quite a humbling statement from Stephen Curry claiming that he is not the greatest shooter in the Olympic gym. Rather, it’ll be apt to say, considering his stats, that he is the ‘Greatest Shooter of All Time’. Trailing him is his new teammate, 31-year-old Buddy Hield, who has at least 25o three-pointers in 5 seasons, second only to Steph’s 250+ three-pointers in 10 seasons.
