Is Sonya Curry the unsung hero behind Stephen Curry's success on and off the court?

Monday night at the Intuit Dome was nothing short of spectacular. Excitement filled the air as Stephen Curry and James Harden, two of the NBA’s deadliest sharpshooters, faced off. Drama and adrenaline fueled the game, but the Clippers handed the Warriors a heartbreaking 102-99 defeat. Yet, the moment that stole the night wasn’t just on the scoreboard. It was Steph’s heartfelt gesture toward Harden, who’s now breathing down his neck on the All-Time 3-pointers list. Curious what he did?

So, right before the game, both Curry and Harden were standing on the sideline, preparing themselves for the big showdown. The Clippers had already won their first regular season game against the Warriors in October. So, it was a given that The Beard was focusing on the strategies he’d apply. But soon, Steph pulled the 10x All-Star into a warm embrace. Rumors suggest that the Baby-Faced Assassin was congratulating James for surpassing Ray Allen’s second-place All-Time 3-pointer record and for registering his 2974th career triple.

We always discuss the importance of humility in sports and often connect the dots to Stephen Curry. He credits his mum for his kindness, which makes him the epitome of it in the league, as well as for his grittiness on the court. Surely, he looks up to someone whom he wants to follow and maybe it’s Sonya Curry.

Who does Stephen Curry want to emulate when it comes to handling himself and stardom?

Following the loss at Intuit Dome, Stephen Curry spoke to the media at the post-game presser. A curious reporter wanted to know what drives the Chef to be approachable and make others feel comfortable around him. They further wanted to know if the superstar has a role model who he emulates in handling himself. Curry, without a moment’s hesitation, expressed his mind.

“I feel like it’s how I want to carry myself as a human being and a person. Doesn’t matter what my status or stature is,” The 4x champ said. “I don’t ever feed into that. As the profile or status has grown, I don’t ever want to change. I have to do things differently because of the attention I get, but it doesn’t change how I approach life. On or off the court, I try to stay consistent. I don’t let the spotlight, basketball, or praise change who I am. Things can change very quickly.”

Moreover, Steph credits his mum for everything she’s done for him and his siblings. Especially with an NBA player at home, Sonya had to do most of the parent duties all by herself because well, Dell Curry was mostly on the road. On many occasions, the Warriors icon has said how his mum has influenced his personality and target in life. “She told me to keep my head up and keep working, that I might not see it now but that someone is watching how I handle the situation,” Stephen said.
