After making headlines about his trade request, James Harden had all eyes on him. Not only did he create a controversy with his former team, the Philadelphia 76ers, he went to the extent of talking ill about the team’s President. So after doing all he could to leave the Sixers, he finally got what he wanted, a trade to the Clippers. However, after doing all that, he is unable to perform and is unable to find his rhythm with his new team as they are 0-5. So looking at this, the NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith shared his opinion about why the Clippers are in such a bad space.

Smith shared a perspective of having Harden coming off the bench because he “doesn’t fit” with the team. “You got 4 dudes who need the basketball,” he said. “The only person amongst that I really really trust is Paul George. Because he can create his own shot and make his own shot, plays on both sides of the ball, and doesn’t try to be the point guard.”

“Neither James Harden nor Russell Westbrook move a lot without the basketball. So anytime you have one on the floor you don’t need the other on the floor,” he added.

Smith further went on to say why the Clippers are having problems despite the greatness of their head coach. He said, “Russell Westbrook was playing some damn good basketball before James Harden arrived. He has been playing damn good basketball since he arrived with the Clippers.”?Now Westbrook might have been a disaster at the Lakers but according to Smith, he was just in the wrong situation.

How has Westbrook performed this season?

Russell Westbrook’s season with the Clippers proved to be an underwhelming one. Although he averaged 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 5.7 assists in a little over 30 minutes per game, he is always benched during crucial moments. Coach Tyronn Lue chose not to finish off with Westbrook during the final minutes of a recent game in which the Clippers required a victory. Instead, he went with a roster of Paul George, James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, Terrance Mann, and a mix of Norman Powell and P.J. Tucker.

Not that this squad is not good, but when Westbrook was playing the Clippers were leading in score. So, however crucial Beastbrook’s contributions are, he is never to be seen in the dire moments when his franchise actually needs him. And the worst part of it all is that it is not because he is unable to perform, it is because the coach is giving priority to some other player over him. So, do you think that if Westbrook plays for a longer duration the chance to clinch a victory for the Clippers maximises? Let us know in the comments below.
