The last leg of the Golden State Warriors regular season has heads turning in their direction. While they squandered many great leads and lost games by a point or two the Dubs have found a rhythm late in the season. With their big three of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green firing on all cylinders the Dubs are 8-1 in the last 9 games. Their most recent victory against LeBron James and the Lakers has even Stephen A. Smith backtracking on previous comments.
In his latest ESPN appearance, Smith gives props to the Warriors, “The Golden State Warriors in a position to be incredibly scary.” Interestingly, just days ago Stephen A. on ‘First Take’ said about Thompson that “you feel that the end is near.”

Part of Smith’s change in tune could be due to Klay’s exceptional form of late. Thompson leads all scorers in points with 27, shooting 10 out of 16, and five of those are three-pointers. Even Green sank three from beyond the arc going 5 for 5. Stephen A. commented that saying, “You have to remember, in the game of basketball, that when you are elite from the perimeter, you force teams to capitulate to your style of play to some degree.”

The Dubs’ perimeter advantage is even scary considering Klay’s recent ignition into heat culture to bolster their playoff chances.
Klay Thompson’s new role might help the Warriors bridge the gap
In an interview with Sports Illustrated Thompson said, “Maybe not the guy who scored 60 in three quarters and scored an NBA record 37 points in a quarter, but still a great threat out there. I’ve modeled my game after Reggie [Miller] and Ray [Allen], and those guys were incredibly effective until their late 30s. So I plan on kind of following that mold.” Offlate, Thompson’s play has been better than that “mold”.

In the last ten games, he averaged 20.3 points which is much higher than his season average of 17. If Klay continues to play this way, the Dubs will comfortably be able to blow through the Lakers and even the Kings or Suns in the play-in tournament. These last stretch of games have proved the five-time All-Star’s champion pedigree improving from his slump in form and transcending the comments of being “washed up”. So, given this new rigor, can the Warriors pull off another deep post-season run? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
