After a hot 10-4 start to the season, the Los Angeles Lakers have dropped seven in their last ten games to fall to 13-11. This has caused fingers to be pointed and questions to be raised in LA and amid this trade news has started to swirl around the franchise and this includes commentary on Lakers superstar, LeBron James’ future in the City.
The Lakers’ struggles have reportedly led other teams to monitor the situation closely. One of the possible destinations for the 39-year-old has been pointed to be a team-up with Steph Curry at the Golden State Warriors. But Commentator Stephen A. Smith is not a fan of this trade at all! In his recent show on ESPN Smith said, “I don’t wanna see it because LeBron James does not deserve it. Perk you heard me, LeBron James does deserve to be with Steph Curry.”

He further explained why he doesn’t want to see the two on the same team, Smith said it was because despite having a number of good players around him in LA. The franchise let all of them go just to get Russell Westbrook who didn’t perform as expected at the Lakers, which caused the Lakers’ mobility a lot of damage as per Smith.
Smith also suggested his take, “We don’t pay enough attention to the power of his influence and then the moves that he compels to make that serve to derail the franchise. As he did in Los Angeles, you don’t get to lead and go to your a** right there, Southern California with Anthony Davis and figure it out, that’s my position.” He emphasized the fact that James is partially responsible for the poor form of the team and now he doesn’t just get to leave because things are going south.
“It ain’t no holding him back.” Kendrick Perkins says if LeBron James wants to move there’s no stopping him
Well, this isn’t the first time James has been linked with a move to the Warriors and ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins believes if James decides to move no one can stop him, “My sources tell me that if LeBron James at any point comes out and says that he wants to be traded or he wants to entertain it, they’re going to entertain it. It ain’t no holding him back.” said Perkins on an ESPN show.

Last season, the Golden State Warriors called the Lakers asking about a James deal and the team owner Jeanie Buss instructed them to talk to the Lakers man himself if he was interested, which exactly is not shutting down any negotiations as per ESPN. If they came calling again the approach most probably will remain unchanged as highlighted by Perkins.
However, even if LeBron wants to move it would not be without roadblocks. It cannot be stressed enough, how complicated the trade would be. For starters, James is owed $48.7 million this season and neither the Warriors nor LA has much room in their respective aprons. Furthermore, the Dubs only have Wiggins’ $26.3 million which would get them only a little more than halfway there.
While the Lakers will also have to cut a third of their roster so, long story short the deal would pretty much be impossible to pull off. So, given how much James likes playing in LA near this family, and how difficult it is to piece together a deal, the chances are next to none, but who knows? Once he becomes trade-eligible.
