Since the Dennis Schroder trade, the Dubs have a 1-2 record. Out of which, one of the losses was a blowout. So, the early verdict of the trade is that Steph Curry & Co. needs more help. Heading into the season, the reports suggested that the team adamantly pursued Paul George and Lauri Markkanen but failed to rope them in. Despite this, they had a surprise 12-3 run to begin the season, thanks to the minor inclusions. And, it also quickly crashed and now, they are with a 15-13 record. Amid this situation, Kendrick Perkins makes a federal case out of it.

Steve Kerr assembled a starting lineup with De’Anthony Melton, saying, “I think it gives us a really good two-way lineup.” It in fact served well initially, but unfortunately, he suffered a season-ending ACL injury. While the team struggled to stay afloat, Schroder’s inclusion seemed like a perfect replacement for Melton, considering his leadership ability in Brooklyn and his two-way playing style.

It’s too early to submit a report card, but Perkins, the former Celt, speaking of the Schroder trade, said, “They made a small move… they didn’t have to give up much.” Moreover, with the help of rapper BossMan Dlow’s words, he further added, Steph don’t want a puppy. He want a big dog… That’s how you maximize his career,” urging the Warriors to rope in a superstar.

Kendrick Perkins further argued that the Warriors still are not far away” from clinching the West with Stephen Curry still playing “at an all-time great level all-time high level”. The only question is, who will the Warriors have to give up to rope in a superstar? The most realistic option for the Dubs is Jonathan Kuminga, who is proving his caliber with every passing game. But will he leave the team alone or will he take some of the assets along with him? Only time will tell.

Should Steph Curry & Co. really trade for the “Big Dog”?

It’s important to note that the Warriors are at a crucial juncture in their history. They are not far away from embracing the farewell of their greatest player in the franchise’s history. It also points out that the team’s odds of winning the championship will fall short drastically. To be precise, the team is currently in a now or never situation. And, an ideal thing to do now would be to put in all the brains and assets to win another ring with Stephen Curry.

Already, heading into the season, it felt like the team didn’t do much during the off-season trade market. They roped in Melton, Buddy Hield, and Kyle Anderson. While the inclusion proved to be a success in the beginning, now, the team hasn’t moved since Melton’s absence.
