LeBron and Curry on the same page politically—Does this signal a new era for athlete activism?

“We can tell Donald Trump: Night! Night!” Roars and cheers filled the Democratic National Convention earlier this week as Steve Kerr pledged his allegiance to Vice President Kamala Harris for the upcoming Presidential elections. But as it turns out, he is not the only Warrior hoping for Harris to create history this November. The man who made the catchphrase famous, Stephen Curry himself, is now endorsing her as the next leader of the USA, surprisingly getting in sync with his good pal LeBron James’ pre-Olympics vision.

Yes, during today’s ongoing DNC in Chicago, the arena was greeted with a special Facetime message from the Baby-Faced Assassin who voiced his support for Kamala and her team. With the newly won Olympic Gold around his neck and an Under Armour T-shirt with the United States printed on it, Stephen Curry instilled a feeling of patriotism in every listener’s heart.

Citing the memorable Olympics run, he said, “That unity on and off the court reminded us all that together, we can do all things and continue to inspire the world. That’s why I believe that Kamala as President could bring that unity back and continue to move our country forward.”

Sure enough, LeBron James had a similar vision as he was named the flagbearer for the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. Filled with absolute honor upon receiving the news, James said, “I understand right now and in a country that’s so divided, I hope this moment and that moment will unite us or bring us together.”

Obviously, King James’ motive was to bring unity to the nation from every citizen, focusing on the same goal of bringing glory to America through the Olympics. And it paid off as Team USA conquered the world with 125 total medals. However, Stephen Curry now wants to take the same vision a step further and bring the same unity through the upcoming elections by endorsing Kamala Harris.

There is no lack of Warriors’ support for Kamala Harris, after Stephen Curry

As Steph made it clear that he was supporting Kamala in the upcoming elections, head coach Steve Kerr had also done the same through a heartfelt speech at the DNC. “I can see the ‘shut up and whistle’ tweets being fired off as we speak. But I also knew as soon as I was asked that it was too important as an American citizen not to speak up in an election of this magnitude.” Kerr remarked.

With Kamala being born in Oakland, the previous home of the Warriors, and her serving as a district attorney there, Kerr and Curry are well aware of the work she has done in that area. Moreover, her vision as a leader aligns with what they want for the nation.

Maybe that’s why even Draymond Green expressed his support for Kamala Harris on his podcast a couple of weeks ago, “We uplifting here. I wanna send my love, my support to Kamala and her team, whoever she decides that she wants her VP to be. Good luck to them.” With Stephen Curry and the core Warriors’ group endorsing Kamala and LeBron James sharing a similar vision, it will surely have a huge impact on many in the community who follow these personalities. What are your thoughts?
