Luka to the Lakers—yeah, we’ve heard it all. The biggest trade ever, right? But let’s talk about Anthony Davis. AD stepped into the chaos, and guess what? The concerns that sent Luka packing—conditioning, fitness, injuries—still exist. Nothing changed. Instead, Nico Harrison’s Mavericks’ injury list grew longer. And now? The G League is now home to ‘The Brow’. Seriously?
It’s a curious case. Harrison’s trail of thoughts, I mean. However, given how he did the impossible not too long ago (ikyk!) there could be a different motive behind sending Davis to the G League. This also brings back memories of when Anthony Davis sat courtside with LeBron James & family in Bronny’s G League debut. Now, imagine them facing off!
Meanwhile, Dallas Mavericks insider Mike Curtis guessed the GM’s inclination on Run It Back. He joined Lou Williams and Michelle Beadle to talk about the Mavs situation.

Is Nico Harrison leaning toward trading Anthony Davis this offseason?
“I think, like Nico Harrison said, his future is three to four years,” Mike Curtis told the hosts. “This window they have right now is the best opportunity for him to compete for a championship. You got to stay either as constructed or make some tweaks along the edges.” Pairing Anthony Davis with Kyrie Irving was the ultimate dream. However, that now seems like a distant dream for Nico Harrison, as Kai is out indefinitely with an ACL injury. As for AD, when will he return to the court in his new white and blue jersey? Thus, this raises the question: would the GM consider trading Davis?
Nico Harrison might be eyeing an Anthony Davis trade, but the Mavericks have a bigger problem—no lead ball handler. Mike Curtis put it bluntly: “I know this team is definitely going to need another point guard, another primary ball handler.” Luka and Kyrie made it work, covering for each other when injuries hit. But now? “With Kyrie tearing his ACL, he’s probably going to be out until at least the All-Star break.” The Mavs need someone to hold the fort. And fast!
Therefore, Lou Williams asked him: “So no chance, in your opinion, the Mavs shop AD this offseason? You feel confident that we’re going to run this back and give it an opportunity?”
To this Curtis replied: “I haven’t been given an inclination, so I don’t want to comment on that. I think Nico has shown us that anything is possible in this league when you trade guys like this.“

Simply put, the Mavs insider hasn’t received any indication about a potential trade, so they prefer not to speculate. Even Curtis only provided an explanation based on the facts he has, and when asked directly, he stated he would rather not say anything without confirmation. Meanwhile, the team’s decision to move Davis to the G League comes at a time when all the critical eyes are on Dallas waiting for a wrong decision to come about!
Anthony Davis will work with the G League affiliates as he finds his way to return to the NBA court
Anthony Davis in the G-League? Yep, it’s happening. The Mavericks forward is suiting up with the Texas Legends to get some five-on-five action as he rehabs from a left adductor strain. It’s all part of his road to recovery, but let’s be real—seeing ‘The Brow’ in the G-League feels unreal.

But if you have noticed, sending injured NBA players to the G League for rehab isn’t anything new. It gives them a chance to get in full-contact scrimmages in a controlled setting—basically, a way to shake off the rust without diving straight into an NBA game. The Warriors have done it with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, and plenty of other teams have used the same approach for guys coming off long injury layoffs.
For the Mavericks, this is a smart way to keep Davis moving while they grind through a brutal road-heavy stretch. Instead of sitting around waiting for the occasional practice, he’ll get real, high-intensity reps with the Legends. It’s structured, it’s controlled, and most importantly, it gets him back in game shape without throwing him straight into the fire.
Moreover, the 32-year-old has been a force this season, averaging 25.7 points, 15.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 blocks. But the Mavericks? They’re barely holding on. With a roster wrecked by injuries, they’ve had to scrape by with the league minimum of eight players. No real practice, just survival mode.

Luka to the Lakers? Old news. The real story is Anthony Davis. He joined the Mavericks, but the same problems—injuries, conditioning, fitness—persist. Now, he’s in the G-League. Strange move, but knowing Nico Harrison, there’s always a plan. Meanwhile, Dallas is barely holding on with Kyrie out and no true ball handler. So, is AD staying, or is another big trade coming? All eyes are on Dallas.
