The Golden State Warriors fans have received an early season treat from their basketball star Stephen Curry. Following the release of his Apple TV+ documentary, he’s the topic of discussion globally. The documentary sheds light on an exciting facet of Curry’s basketball career. It also touches upon the amount of commitment and perseverance required by him to become successful at such a young age.

When Curry came into the league, he was a very skinny, 21-year-old kid. He resembled a kid who skipped high school and got into the NBA. Who could have possibly known that this little boy will create history in the league and be the all-time 3pt leader? Nobody could have predicted this storyline for him. Well, maybe his family! The documentary also emphasized how his grandmother would be ready to scold anyone who bullied Curry in his youth.

The all-time leading 3pt scorer has won 4 championships with the Golden State Warriors. This documentary is like the passage of challenges Stephen Curry faced, a young, frail child overcoming the challenges to become who he is today. It focuses on his relentless commitment to developing his abilities, leading to the extraordinary success he enjoys today.

As a 15-year-old teenager, Curry showcased incredible skills on the court. And his mother, Sonya, was right there in the stands, offering her unconditional support. With every successful shot he made, Sonya cheered her son on. The only thing the proud mother had to say was, “Stephen! Good job, good job”.

As the game continued, other spectators started noticing Stephen’s talent and couldn’t help but be curious about his age. They turned their questions towards Sonya, inquiring about exactly how old the young talent was.

The documentary reveals Sonya’s response as, “He’s 15, but he hasn’t hit puberty yet. I asked the doctor because I was starting to get worried.” The answer highlights the fact that even at such a young age, Curry’s skills on the court were already exceptional. There were absolutely no signs of him slowing down. He continued to amaze the world with his talent and passion for the game.

Stephen Curry reflects on the time he knew he was different

Stephen Curry reflected on his beginnings as a basketball player. He recalls his time, when he was just 9, playing for Charlotte Stars. It’s an AAU team for children under the age of ten. Curry recalls being scared by the ‘bigger and stronger guys’ playing alongside him. Despite him being small and frail, Curry had a strong desire to win at each level he played.

“When I was 9 years old, I played on the ten-and-under AAU team, of the Charlotte Stars. I remember looking around like, Oh I’m not tall as him, I’m not strong as him. I was the undersized scrawny kid that was just trying to make it at whatever level I was playing. That was when I first really understood I’m different,” Curry said.

Chef Curry initially recognized his uniqueness and skills throughout those crucial years. He focused on his strengths—his excellent shooting skills—instead of dwelling on his weaknesses. He eventually developed into one of the best shooters in basketball history thanks to his knowing of himself and dedication to playing to his strengths.

Following the Golden State Warriors guard’s reflection on his younger self, the very next moment in the documentary, Sonya Curry could be heard cheering up her fifteen-year-old son once again. “Stephen! Good job, good job.”
